  Charming hotel and staff

  Once we found the hotel, hidden deep in Midyats old town, it was lovely. GPS didnt help once we made a wrong turn but young boys knew just how to get there. From the old style skeleton keys to the room furnishings it was a step back in time. It was a bit chilly in November so the heated bathroom floor (tiny room) was welcome. Our room was right next to the terrace which really seems to jump in the summer with music and dancing. Probably not a good room if youre early to bed!

  LUXURY IN MESOPOTAMIA

  South east Turkey is a beautiful part of the word to explore and discover. Many ancient and historic towns and cities dot this part of Mesopotamia. As a travel photographer, I love to find cool new places to explore, shoot and promote. Midyat is beautiful old, small city about 50 kilometres north of the Syrian border, but believe me, the area was relaxed, safe and filled with beautiful friendly people. It was such a treat to stay at this hotel to write, edit and process images. The room I had was spacious, the wifi was clean and the staff were second to none. I cant wait to return.

  Great place to stay!

  Shmayaa Hotel is a wonderful place to stay in the heart of historic Assyrian city of Midyat. Converted from an old palatial residence with exquisite stonework and amazing views of the Midyat skyline, the hotel's name comes from the Aramaic word for "heaven" and all the rooms are named after ancient Mesopotamian themes. The rooms are super comfortable and luxurious, and the service is wonderful - especially the breakfast and food. I especially thank reception manager Zeynep, and barmen/waiters Ömer and Vedat for their exceptional and professional work! This place is highly recommended for anyone wishing to explore Midyat and the historical sites in the surrounding area!

  Great place to stay

  We really enjoyed our stay here. Comfortable bed, good breakfast, and a lovely courtyard if we weren't sitting on the amazing terrace. Dinner was very good but not stellar, but the wine selection - including their own house label through Shiluh - was great. Parking is available. I don't think you can stay anywhere better in Midyat - we enjoyed it a lot!
