Amazing Japanese hospitality and feel traditionWe stayed here one night for sightseeing in Shimane. The stay includes Onsen(hotspring), dinner, and breakfast. The room is traditional Japanese style room w clean two futons, bathroom, and shower. I really loved how they treated the seasonal ingredients and used all local produce in their meals. After the dinner the hotel presents Japanese traditional dance and sings in the main lobby. The guest can join the dance, and we did join the enjoyable dance. The hotel is located in Tamatsukuri town which is 15 minutes driveing from center of Shimane(Matsue). We walk around Tamatsukuri town in the morning to visit lovely cafe, famous shrine, and hotspring service. Staff were super helpful all the time. Thanks! Absolutely we would like to visit here again.

Amazing service and great, pristine infrastructureShiraishiya shows you what Japanese service and hospitality are about. No matter most of the staff struggle with English, someone will be there to understand what you need and they'll deliver what you need, while always making you feel comfortable and welcome. I stayed in a beautiful tatami suite, the onsen baths are great and I loved the 7 or 8 course Japanese dinners. You must appreciate this is a Japanese market oriented establishment, so catering for Western dining tastes is somewhat limited, not a shortcoming if you know it upfront and are looking to experience Japan. I heartily recommend Shiraishiya as I recommend Matsue as a beautiful destination, as well as taking some time to walk around Tamatsukuri.

I miss you already Shiraishiya! This is a fantastic inn/hotel. Wonderful staff, beautiful large rooms. Fantastic collection of art. Incredible Kaiseki food! Clean, comfortable, classy. A lovely onset macho too. If you could be there during cherry blossom season, WOW.

DelightfulA fantastic experience here because of its excellent service. Plus it has an evening performance including the traditional loach dance. Try getting invited for the loach dance as a performer, which I did. It is fun! The bath water here in Tamatsukuri is reputed to be the best in japan. Not cheap though so book early.

Relax, comfortable, and wonderful accommodationThe hotel is located more near the railway station. They provide pickup service at the railway station. We arrived by car, the staff immediately recognize me and provide parking service. During check-in, Female customers may pick up YUKATAs (colorful Japanese bathrobe). You can wear YUKATA and GETA (Japanese clogs) and hang around this little onsen town, feel like a real Japanese, really interesting. After check-in, the staff led us to our big, clean, and nicely-decorated Japanese room. The staff serve us with aromatic sencha and Japanese cake as they introduce the hotel facility. There are big and beautiful indoor and outdoor onsens, sauna available. It is said that the onsen is good for your skin and can make female more beautiful. They switch man and female onsen everyday, so you should try it twice. The Kaiseki food dinner is served in a modern restaurant. There are many courses, all are delicious and made from local food. The waiter is kind and try hard to make us know the idea behind the food. You can also try Japanese sake here, we did enjoy it. There is Japanese show, including Enka (Japanese singing), Japanese guitar, Taiko drum, and weird dancing in the lobby in the evening. They will invite you to join their dance. Although we can't speak Japanese, but still have fun in it. All the staffs are kind and helpful. Although most of them struggle with English, they will try hard to solve your problem. We really enjoy our stay here. The hotel itself can become an attractions. We recommend you to stay here and may spend more time in this hotel.
