    nice onsen (hot spring) hotel/resort

quiet hot spring (onsen) resort some 3 hours by bus from osaka large resort with lots of space and barely any guests 3 levels of hot spring baths everything (ktv, noodle store, ...) closes early (nothing after midnight) it's not much of an eating retreat, if that's what you're after staff friendly amenities (yukatas, towels, combs, ...) aplenty hot spring opening hours: 5-9am + 12pm-1am nice clean ocean-view room (suite?) with tatami besides 2 single beds for ca. usd 300/2pax/room possibly no king-sized beds available? if you wanna relax, go for it!

Wonderful View of Sunset from Hotel

This is a beautiful, recently renovated hotel. We had the Japanese styled room facing the sea. The public Meiko bus stop is right outside. It is also connected to an underwater observatory which you can visit for 700 yen per guest. There is a large onsen over 3 floors with a small outdoor one on the lowest level. We were there right after the 10 days holidays so the hotel was pretty quiet but I suspect it can get a little crowded during holidays as there are mahjong tables and a games and play are for children so it's probably geared for families. The not so good part was the food. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets had many items but none were great except for the pasta. Quite a few items also appeared on both the breakfast and dinner buffets. It may have been better to offer a pricier option but with better quality food which I have come to expect from onsen hotels and ryokans.

resort hotel with a gorgeous onsen facility

What sold me to book this hotel is their onsen facility and I was not disappointed. First of all, before you go into the gender separate bath area, you will see a shampoo bar section where you can pick your own shampoo/conditioner to your liking (even inside the bath area they have 2 kinds of shampoo/shower gel already). Once you get through the changing room (small lockers also available for your valuable items), you will arrive at the top level of hot spring, Right the way, you can see the 2-storey high window overlooking to the ocean. When you walk down the stairs to the lower level, there are 3 pools and a huge bath stalls area. On this level, you can also find a dry sauna and hot stone room for you to sweat out and release toxins from your body. The best part is when you walk through the screen door and down a flight of stairs to their outdoor onsen, which is built on the cliff right next to the ocean. It's just so relaxing to soak in the onsen water overlooking into the ocean! The dinner that came with my room package is Japanese semi-Kaiseki style, with one hot dish cooked in front of you and the rest is set up and ready for you as you sit down. I find the food quality very high and service was good also. The morning breakfast is served at the main cafe restaurant buffet style. The food is more catered to Japanese taste bud, with some basic western items like eggs and sausage. I was slightly underwhelmed comparing this with the dinner. The only slight (very slight) complaint I have is the room. I was given a non-renovated room where I think every piece of furniture looks to be at least 30 years old, with chips and stains to show. However, the bed was comfortable and the sea view was nice. I was able to get a very good deal perhaps low season, so I would not deduct any marks because of this. But if you are paying rate, I would try to get some confirmation that you are getting a renovated room. By the way, they also provide free shuttle bus pick up 3 times per day from the train station. You can check their website for details.

    Relaxing holiday

We booked a half board package of standard room through travel agent and paid upgrade to a nice sea view room upon arrival. The room with 2 beds and the design is western / Japanese style. All the staff were friendly. We enjoy so much the dinner in the Japanese restaurant. The spa is good and the environment is really nice.

Outdoor Onsen Area with ~20 Light Brown Thumb Sized Insects

Looks a decent grand hotel occupying large area with good facilities. We booked half board with dinner included. To our disappointment, the dinner is buffet type not the Japanese style which our friends tried before. We were advised by front desk that we had to specifically asked for Japanese style dinner while those agencies websites like hotel.com agoda.com provided no options or remarks when booking. We booked harbour view. The room is spacious in Japan standard. Clean tidy well equipped. There's pillow choice and Japanese traditional costumes for guests to pick up freely. The Basement floor offers free onsen, 3 massage chairs, reading area, charged massage, vendor machine. One worth mentioning is that there's a row of shampoos with different kinds of shampoo for trial. About the onsen, it's large with two floors. The lower one is outdoor. We found +20 cockroach-like insects in light brown colour hanging on the outer walls. They dare not enter into the onsen water or area which is hot. It's quite large in thumb size. Felt awful when seeing these Location convenient with bus stop near and a Fisherman Wharf seafood market in 5 mins by walking. I only gave 3 star rating due to the insects in onsen area
