Private Outdoor bath, with tranquility and grace, heartwarming family hospitality
2 hour Shinkansen bullet train trip from Tokyo, then nealy an hour by car (there's daily pickup service on 15:30) from Yonezawa station, there's a hideaway you can take a perfect mini-break. there's a complete peace and tranquility, unpoluted Shirabu Onsen hotspring district. I visited Shirabu Onsen in 1999, and the impression I got stayed the same; unpoluted and so natural. What I liked about this ryokan inn was, amazing Onsen hotspring (especially the private outdoor bath) , and elegant mood are both attainable at the same time, and they are maintained with care by a wonderful owner family.

Old Japan at its best
Recently, while attending a conference in Yonezawa City, I chose to book this Onsen (spa) hotel, instead a usual near-the-venue hotel. This has been one of the best decisions I made recently! Retiring to this beautiful, mountain B&B&D (dinner included) after a half-our scenic ride, was a real pleasure. Not only dinners were great, but also the extremely relaxing hot bath in a natural, indoor-outdoor hot spring. The place is a walking distance to a skiing area, so must be even nicer in the winter, also probably more expensive. Strongly recommended!
