WOW!!We stayed here back in September for 3 nights while visiting the KC area. Overall, from start to end, our stay couldnt of been any better. The hotel was very empty when we stayed due to the pandemic. It was only at 22% occupancy, however every staff member and guest staying were wearing a mask at all times. When we checked in, the woman at the front desk was super friendly. She gave us 2 king rooms side by side on the 20th floor. (2012 and 2014) Both rooms had an amazing view of the surrounding area. The rooms were immaculately clean along with every single part of the hotel. The place is spotless and had absolutely no musty smells or odors. I have stayed at a few Sheratons, and this one by far is the nicest of the 4 total that I have stayed in!! The bed was extremely comfortable. Probably the most comfortable hotel bed I have slept in this whole year. Not too soft, not too firm. It was perfect. I was very impressed!! We ended up bringing our dog which was no problem at all. The hotel is super pet friendly!! They dont charge a fee or anything. You just sign a waiver at check-in. Our dog loved this hotel just as much as we did!! Overall, our stay at this hotel could not of been any better. The staff were very friendly, the hotel is extremely well maintained, its extra secure, (I loved the fact that you needed a key to use the elevators) and the location is very central to both Overland Park and Kansas City!! We are already planning on returning next year!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone in a rapid heartbeat!!!

Outstanding Service - Stay with Confidence - COVID Protocols FollowedWe recently stayed at the Sheraton as part of a soccer tourney in KC. This was our first time traveling since February 2020 given COVID and to write that we were anxious would be an understatement. We could not have enjoyed our stay more at every turn at this hotel. 1. COVID Protocols followed. Plenty of signage regarding social distancing, several hand sanitizing stations throughout the lobby and elevator area, plexiglass screens at check-in, spaced out tables in the dining hall, etc. We were relieved to see how serious the hotel is treating COVID and with the mask mandate in the State of Kansas, we felt as safe as could be expected. 2. Service with a Helpful Smile. We stayed in Room 1207 (two queen beds) and opted to use the adjoining room, 1209, on the 2nd night of our stay as well. Room 1209 had a king bed and was handicap accessible (walk-in shower). The front desk receptionist made the 1209 room add so easy and really enhanced our stay as the kids could have their own room and allowed Mrs. C to get a better night's sleep. Could not be more pleased with how these two rooms allowed us to have a wonderful stay. Of note, both face the freeway, but highway noise was negligible given our height in the hotel. 3. Amenities. Huge dining hall, outside seating with social distancing options, pool area had very high ceilings and the Sheraton staff had the doors open to allow for ventilation in the pool area. On-site parking without an additional fee and a full service bar with delicious food. 4. Amenities Nearby. By staying at this hotel, you have several options for shopping and restaurants nearby. Top Golf is down the road, Indoor SkyDiving within 3 blocks, Town Center shopping within 10 minutes on residential streets. It's really located at a superb location with easy access to the freeway, too.

Disappointing stay -- avoid this hotelMy teen daughter and I stayed here when we were in town for a tennis tournament. The common areas of the hotel were nice and we were happy that Covid protocols were followed. The room was generally fine, but we had 3 major problems that will cause us to avoid this place the next time we are in the area. First, the parking situation is ridiculous. There are only a few parking spaces near the lobby, and the rest are in an exposed parking area behind the hotel. There was snow on the ground when we arrived, and we had to walk on snow and ice to get from our car to the building. Then, you enter into a vestibule that contains only an elevator and a stairway door. You have to take the very slow elevator up one floor to get to the main floor, where you have to walk to the main elevator bank. I cannot express how slow the parking elevator is. Every time we got on it, we were convinced the elevator was stuck. We wanted to take the stairs to avoid it, but that wasn't an option because the door was locked. It was also unnerving to have to wait for the elevator, especially at night. There were no employees in the area, and it felt isolated. I believe they may have valet service in normal times, but not now. This inconvenience/safety issue was enough in itself to make us not want to return. Second, the sheets were horrible. I spend enough nights in hotels every year to have status with 3 different hotel groups. Many of our stays are in smaller markets in places like Hilton Garden Inns, Courtyard by Marriott, or Hyatt Place. We're not super picky, but these were the worst sheets that I can remember. I know it sounds crazy, but they were so stiff that they actually were noisy. We could each hear the sheets rustling when the other one moved in the other bed. We both slept terribly as a result. This is not a cheap hotel, but the sheets felt like it was. Finally, we had reserved 3 nights but we only needed 2 in the end because my daughter didn't qualify for the last day. We went to check out before 10 am and were told that although they wouldn't charge us for the third night, they would charge us a $50 early checkout fee. Because we travel for tournaments so often, it is fairly routine for us to have to check out a day early. I have never been assessed an early checkout fee before. And I was not advised at check-in that this was a possibility. I was told that they had reserved the room for us and passed up the opportunity to book someone else in it, but this seemed far-fetched considering we saw almost no one else at the hotel while we were there. This was extremely disappointing, especially because we had such a miserable stay there. There were number of other reputable hotels in the area. We will try one of them next time.

They Have Stopped TryingYou would think during the pandemic, the hotels would try even harder to win your business. Not so at the Sheraton Overland Park. I stayed here many times in the past and they were fine. Not great but fine. Now they have no room service, no lunch, and no dinner. At the bar they only have a few hors doeuvres and they are served in pre-prepared plastic containers and are. microwaved. The microwaved quesadillas that we ordered looked like they were cooked in the morning and were burned on both sides. The hummus and pita consisted of a little plastic container of hummus and a plastic bag of hard pita chips. The CVS vending machine did not work and the desk clerk said it was not their problem as it is a third-party machine. Once again I understand the hotels Suffering during the pandemic but they should try so that they can come back. This hotel seems as if theyve just given up.

Never AgainWe booked the Sheraton Overland Park for a family trip to KC for our daughters 17th birthday. We brought our 11 year old son and our daughters 19 year old boyfriend. It was a convenient location for everything we wanted to do. When making the reservation, my husband asked for a rollaway bed. He was told that would not be a problem. When checking in, he was told there were no rollaways available. If we had been told that on the phone, we would have chosen another hotel. The front desk staff was rude and unapologetic. Not her problem we were lied to on the phone. Upon parking around back, we took a very slow elevator up one floor to the main floor. The elevator actually stopped while we were on it and we thought we had become trapped. It eventually slowly started to move again. Then we had to walk down the hall to another elevator to take us up to our room. We walked past the pool, which our 11 year old was very excited about because we told him there was an indoor pool. After changing clothes and going down to swim, he and my husband found that the door would not open. Maintenance came and spent several minutes trying to fix the lock. He was able to get in but apparently could not fix the lock and told them (not in English) that they could not swim. Again, had we known we could not use the pool, we would have chosen another hotel. So up in the room our daughter and her boyfriend wanted to watch a movie on the BFs computer. No free WiFi. For $200 a night we have to pay $18 for WiFi???? This hotel is way overpriced for what we got. Even the one bottle of water in the room was only complimentary for Bonvoy members. We booked this hotel for the pool and anticipating the 19 year old would not have to sleep on the floor. Sheraton did not meet our expectations.
