need to be renovatedIt is a nice resort indeed however, it is too old and requires immediate renovation. We initially booked the Duplex Pool Villa however the front desk told us that the Pool Villas were recently renovated so that it would be more new. We opted for the upgrade and paid additional for each night however, we were very disappointed to see that we were still placed in the old pool villas with barely any renovating done.

Unlike my past stays...Im still a fanIve stayed more than a few times now at Sheraton Hua Hin Pranburi Villas (SPV). SPV in Pranburi is a short drive from Hua Hin but IMO, but a world away in terms of vibe. Certainly Hua Hin has numerous flashier, more sophisticated resorts offering far more guest amenities & diversions than SPV. As for me, Pranburis slower, less commercialized up country Thailand pace & SPVs all-villas smaller resort format with basic resort features, makes for a much more relaxing holiday. As a Marriott Lifetime Titanium Elite loyalty member, Id come to appreciate that Id likely find a predictably satisfying, quality experience at SPV, with service levels as good as any Marriott sister property in Thailand. Even so this latest 6 nights stay was during the busy New Year Holiday & frankly, was my least satisfying & in some ways, a disappointing experience. I suspect the higher guest occupancy levels led to some service & operational lapses. Moreover, during this same trip before coming to SPV, I had a 5 nights visit at Hua Hin Marriott, which was an excellent experience with exceptional guest service. I had some encounters that while quite ordinary, were memorably delightful all the same. * Doormen/bell boys. Too often they seem to be forgotten team members playing minor supporting roles. Truth be told, I dont tend to ever remember this service area other than for less-than-positive reasons. Well, I was more than impressed & recognize their very proactive & capable service, their knowledge, & friendly yet courteous mannerat check-in/out & throughout my stay. As SPVs initial guest-facing moment of truth, indeed they are fine brand ambassadors. * Guest relations. In advance of my arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to be informed of a particular SPV promotion then underway that favorably affected my stay (monetarily). Had Khun KK not been forthcoming as she was, I would have never known otherwise about this promotion. So, a shout out for Khun KK & her cheerful, guest-centric, guest-first & foremost service attitude. For me, there were annoying operational lapses during my stay at SPV that I highlight here in the spirit of continuous improvement. * Housekeeping. From my past stays Id come to expect dependable housekeeping service. Being charitable, IMO during this visit the housekeeping service was uneven & not close to past standards. Though probably not the case, IMO it could seem as if theres no standardized housekeeping checklist. The rooms/bathrooms though clean, never appeared tidy & orderly following a housekeeping visitleaving me with an impression of lack of professional care & attention. Aside from the guests personal stuff, in my experience the global hospitality brands generally try to organize & straighten out a room/bathroom items & amenities according to some set template designnot so here & most days it appeared to me as if the housekeepers had never been inside the villa (apart from making the bed or emptying trash bins). Literally every day, the outcome was noticeably different & never quite in a satisfying way. I overlook what might be one-off housekeeping lapses, but repeat occurrences did cause some inconvenience & I really dislike & so, soon stop even making such requestse.g., inconsistent assortment of bathroom towels, including a complete absence of certain towels or bathrobes; pool terrace seemingly never wet mopped; outdoor furniture never re-arranged & lounge chair towels seldom replenished; unwashed coffee mugs or tableware; sporadic, rudimentary nightly room turn down service; torn bedside mosquito netting; depleted telephone note pads. All this was jarring inasmuch as overall housekeeping service during my past stays was, to my mind at a much higher standard. Of course, some will say that I can simply request for such items if they were so importantI for one believe that that should seldom be the case for what should be routine, standard practices. * Covid safety. During my stay at SPV Thailand was in the midst of a serious Covid surge, with Pranburi province a higher risk area being adjacent to other red zone provinces. In comparison to other Thailand hotels & businesses, SPV appears to have a very, very relaxed precautionary Covid safety approach. Of course, we must mainly rely on others to be socially responsible & take all due safety precautionsa hit or miss proposition. At SPV IMO the buffet breakfast poses higher infection risk. For the most part, the food service line is situated in a physically compact indoor space with a single entry/exit point. While the dining area is outside in an open setting, IMO the dining table proximity looks & feels closer than what might be more prudent under the circumstances. I was surprised when I needed to specially request a disinfecting wipe-down of the dining table & various table top receptacles (so Im not certain this is any standard Covid protocol at SPV). Also, I didnt see that buffet line serving utensils & similar high touch-point service items are periodically changed or sanitized. An aside, for the special New Years Eve dinner, SPV provided its guests with disposable gloves to use in the buffet linea typical safety practice in these Covid times. Consequently the entire breakfast service was nightmarish to me with many, many guests ignoring social distancing, not hand sanitizing, or even being without face masks inside the buffet area. It wasnt apparent that F&B staff were at all concerned & certainly didnt appear to encourage or influence guests safety behavior (nor were they personally mindful to try to maintain some safe distance in their own guest interactions). For the greater good, I wonder whether SPV management & staff should & can somehow be more proactive & assertive to ensure that all its guests adhere to expected Covid safety precautions. To me SPVs Covid safety protocols werent as robust as what Ive experienced at other Marriott & competitor properties during my post-lockdown stays. Indeed the entire guest-facing breakfast setup, to my memory, largely seems unchanged from pre-Covid times (aside from a few bottles here & there of sanitizing hand gel, & some cautionary signage). Hence I did feel somewhat uneasy from a Covid health safety perspective, during my stay at SPV. * Breakfast buffet (aside from the Covid safety related observations). F&B service quality & attention diminished notably during SPVs full occupancy daysF&B service was quite good at slower times before/after New Year. IMO staffing levels seemed too light for the holiday guest surgee.g., line chefs struggled to replenish certain food items, especially those kept under the heat lamps; long delays clearing tables of dirty dishes; slow morning beverage service & frequently empty pre-made beverage dispensers; usually dirty or crumb-covered lotus pond dining-dugout cushions & floor. The breakfast menu, IMO, was quite ordinary, limited & of lesser quality compared to say Hua Hin Marriott, though food & pastry items were tasty & generally well made. Separately, I commend the F&B staff at Luna La Pran for consistently providing top notch, prompt & attentive service. Despite the shortfalls, this particular stay was as relaxing as at other times & for me SPV remains a pleasant resort destination at a fair value-for-price proposition. I do intend to return again to SPV during a slower time & after Covid subsides, & am confident that any future stay will be more in line with what Id come to expect from the past (including a higher rating). So, count me as a fan who recommends that others give SPV a try on their visit to the Pranburi area.

Could have been great, but not quiteOk. The positives. Very nice villas and pool. Well manicured grounds. Lovely, late nice romantic moonlight swim. The negatives. Sadly many. Far from Hua Hin (30minutes) so you are either going to drive a lot or stay and spend a lot. Beach is off property, across a busy street, to a narrow, treeless strip of sand. Meh. Villas have good A/C but you need to stay inside cause it was HOT. You really could only use the pool after dark. The cabana was nice, but needed to use the mosquito netting. Just hard to relax when worried about getting bitten. Was given a nice 2br upgrade. But a bit bizarre. There is an outdoor bathtub. With two couples (glass villas a bit close for comfort) or a family that would be beyond bizarre. At check-in you sit in a covered area but bake in the heat. They have several other nearby enclosed rooms with A/C, why not use one of those. Sitting, sweating profusely isnt a great way to start. Many families with noisy kids were there. Also a nearby construction site with sounds starting each morning. Frankly there are many better options in and near Hua Hin. It was nice to try but not for us.
