  Fantastic hostel

  I had very mixed feelings about staying in a Youth Hostel after nearly 24 hours of travelling, but I was totally surprised by the Wangfujing. The room was spacious with a brand new bathroom, power shower, and western toilet. The bar/cafe was welcoming, cosy and the beer was cold! The corridor could be a little noisy at night, but a pair of ear plugs soon sorted that. This hostel is also only a 5 min walk from the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. The staff are super friendly and helpful and very keen to practice their English - great if your Mandarin is limited! I would thoroughly recommend this place. Bear in mind - it is a hostel, not a hotel, so if you only ever go 5 star, you won't like this, but as a veteran hosteller, I would rate this highly!

  Bathroom was a nightmare

  Location is good as it is just 10 minutes walk from the shopping district of Wang Fu Jing. However, taxi driver could not find the hotel as it is not known as "Wangfujing Guesthouse hotel: but rather "She Ke Bo Yuan Hotel. It is some institution with hotel rooms anyway. The room allocated to me was bad. There was strong cigarette stench in the room and the toilet flush was faulty. We asked for a change of room, only to be informed that the suite is available and we need to pay an additional few hundreds (almost additional US$200 per night) for it.The staff came up to repair the flush everyday, causing much inconvienece. There was a day whereby the "water" from the toilet bowl flooded the entire bathroom. It was disguisting and entering the bathroom was a nightmare to me everyday. The bed was very hard as well, it felt like I was sleeping on the ground. TV channels were not clear and they featured only Mandarin channels. If you just need a sleeping place, the price is affordable; room is rather spacious and location is pretty good. Otherwise, it is a nightmare.

  comfortable stay

  a very good hotel for a visitor. convenient location to visit the Forbidden city and museums. good food. friendly staff. clean, spacious rooms, warm enough for the winter. free wifi available in the rooms.

  Not the best

  We lived here for 3 days, big room something I loved. But the wifi was Really Slow, the room Really needed a upgrade and it smelled smoke everywhere. Was a smoke free room but we had to always have the window open to get the bad smoke smell away.

  Very Good Hotel

  We stayed 3 nights at Sheke Boyuan Hotel last October 2019. It's conveniently located very close to 2 different metro lines with very easy access to the stations. Forbidden City is at a walkable distance as well as the pedestrian section of Wangfunjing Street with loads of shopping centres, restaurants and different activities. The room is very comfortable. The furniture is a bit dated but were good enough for our stay. The room was cleaned daily during our stay. The staff don't speak English but they are nice and did their best to communicate with us by using their smartphones translator. It's forbidden smoking in the rooms or corridors but allowed at areas adjacent to lift or to the staircase, which results in unpleasant smell sometimes to the corridors. The breakfast was really good serving Chinese food. We had our dinner daily at the same restaurant located on the ground floor due to the excellent quality of Chinese food. Hotel highly recommended
