  Golf day

  Booked a golf day here on the 3rd october for 12 people with the total price being over £300, phoned the golf shop in the morning to see if the course was still open as the weather was dreadful. They said it was so we turned up and had to walk off after 5 holes as the greens had puddles over them. Now the course won't issue a refund nor an alternative day for us to play. Disgusting

  Ridiculous the course wasn't closed

  Myself and 10 friends visited for a round of golf and we was told the course was open and playable even tho we had storm Alex on the day we had booked, we managed to play 5 holes before the greens became unplayable due to the amount of water on them (the hole was full of water on some greens) we asked for our money back or even a voucher to visit another time to which we was told no as the green keeper deemed the course playable, what an absolute joke

  Christmas Eve Golf

  Now I appreciate that Winter Golf can be a lottery and the course conditions are never ideal when playing in the North West of England. However Shaw Hill should be ashamed to take £25 per person for a round of golf in such bad condition as it was today. Whilst booking on the website nowhere were we told about temporary greens or tees. Now I expect to play of some temp tees but these were border line dangerous and rock hard and impossible to tee from. Also every single one of the 18 holes were on temporary greens. Again no mention of this from the pro shop when we signed in. As visitors the course was poorly sign posted and finding our way round was a challange. Half the 16th and 17th holes are closed and spoil what potentially two nice holes. On completion of the round we went to the pro shop to express our dissapointed of the course and standards along with the price we paid and we were met with a very poor attitude which basically said "I dont care, we have your money now get lost and Merry Christmas" As you can tell we were far from impressed with the over day and was not the start to Christmas we were expecting. If you are considering playong this course again before June 2021 you have been warned. Save your money!!!

  Golf day out

  We played this morning Christmas Eve, we were really looking forward to the morning. Signed in at the pro shop who didn't tell us that we were playing off 18 winter Tees and 18 temporary greens. Some of the greens were not even in the same location as the original ones. Could not have been more disappointed with the course. At the end went in to the pro shop to tell him of my disappointment and he couldn't have been less interested. Save your money go to a golf club that wants your business and sets the course out accordingly.

  Overnight golf stay

  I originally booked for a group of 8 golfers, but before I was due to pay balance "group of 6" government guidelines came into force, which clearly stated no more than 6 from different households could book into hotel accommodation. 2 of our group agreed to drop out so we met the requirements but Shaw Hill insisted it was ok to still book as 8, but we'd have to sit in two groups of 4! We complied with the regulations and as a result lost 2 deposits. The food was very good, hotel good and golf course below average
