Sorry Expedia this is not a 2 1/2 star hotel

Thank you Hotwire for booking me this 2 1/2 star hotel... Only problem was it was about a 1 star. I went online and booked this room as a Hotwire deal.... "Be adventurous" I was game.... After the auto book I started researching the hotel I had won for the great price! I called Hotwire and argued with them that from the looks of all the reviews and photos I had seen that this is not a 2 1/2 star property. Hotwire made me visit the hotel and see the room first..... Then it was very awkward when I had to tell the front desk attendant that his hotel was not a 2 1/2 star hotel and I didn't want to stay here..... If you are looking for A 1 star hotel.... A clean room .... this is the place..... But if you are expecting a 2 1/2 star and you walk into the room.... Bring a spatula, because you will need to scoop your jaw up... Cause it will be on the floor.... Shame on you Hotwire for believing this is a 2 1/2 star hotel and selling it as one!!!!!! Thank you to Shasta hotel for approving my refund..... I will NEVER book through Hotwire again!!!!!

    happy camper

The room is old and run down. Both the outside and inside needs some major work. I must say the attendant was really nice and very respectable. That is one good thing about this motel. I will think twice before I book this room in the future. Also $50 for a room is a little high for this motel

    Okay for One Night Stay

Train runs pass during night and you can hear it. Location is awkward to find. There is no breakfast but there is a bakery about a half block away with lots of sweets and breakfast. Works for one night but I would try a different place next time. Micro/fridge, coffee maker in room, free wifi and parking, linen and towels clean, hot water in shower.

    Old but OK

We were needing an inexpensive base for a weekend visiting trip in Northern California and found the Shasta Lodge for $55/night. It is conveniently located in the older downtown area and close to good restaurants. The lodge definitely shows it's age and looks a little rundown on the outside. It could use a facelift and the pool has been filled in, which was too bad since the temperature reached 109 that Saturday. Inside the room it was clean enough, nothing nasty about it. No fridge or coffee maker, but had a microwave. All said we were comfortable enough and we only crashed and showered there anyway.

Don't be fooled this is no "Lodge", mediocre rooms in poor location.

When I arrived at this so called lodge I quickly found out my reservation was a mistake. Located in the middle of nowhere, not near the lake, road noise from the freeway and one greasy spoon place to eat next door. Rooms were out of the 50's and did not look comfortable at all. Once we understood what this place was all about, we decided to move on down the road to find better accommodations. Considering this place appeared to be close to empty when we were there, their rates were clearly too much for what little they offered. I recommend you avoid this place and book one of the hotel -motels further down the road towards and on the lake itself.
