    Good hotel.

Great location, just off the main roads but close to where the action is. The staff were mostly very young and generally a lot happier than i would be under their circumstances. They work non stop from first light to late into the night. The guy who cleaned my room did a thorough job so i gave him a good tip at the end of my holiday. I also put a little something in the tip box on the bar most days. Come on folks, these guys work like dogs for bugger all. Liked my room, it was smart and had all i needed. Great shower. I saw inside a couple of other rooms, they were bigger and had an armchair with a coffee table. Standard all in set up at the bar, local spirits and Tuborg beer. There is a small cocktail list, you pay for these but only a couple of quid. They are not going to win awards but are adequate. Some guests would bring down their favourite duty free tipple and get mixers from the bar. The hotel doesnt mind, it saves them money! With exchange rate so good, i mostly ate out at night, had a couple of nice meals at the hotel. Pretty much something for everybody. Decent breakie; i prefer turkish style so i was well spoilt for choice. Bacon, eggs and the rest available every morning for the Brit traditionalists. There are not quite enough sunbeds for all of the guests. People do contend with the towel game in the morning and i confess to playing the game a couple of times. BOO! There isnt an area that gets sunshine all day, some places better than others. Covid-wise, these guys are bang on it, constantly wiping and cleaning. All the staff wear masks. A good hotel at very good value and i would happily go again.

    Standard

Stayed at The Shark for two weeks in September. When we arrived we were facing the road, went to reception and asked to moved which they accommodated and moved the following day. Couldnt fault the man and women on reception they would help when they could and were always approachable. Its a very clean hotel, they would clean the rooms every day, the pool would be cleaned every night. Constantly wiping areas of the hotel. Food.... wasnt the best and would have to ask if you wanted more than 2 pieces and they would look at you like youre asking for the world???? During this time you understand that things are hard and you have to follow rules, but they had no entertainment. Bingo and karaoke for the whole two weeks we were there, luckily youre very close to bar street, we spent a lot of time out of the hotel at night. You would have to get up at 6.30 for a sunbed which youd get the sun all day, although you got people putting their towels on during the night... very sad if you ask me! The majority of the bar staff were very unapproachable, I understand they work long hours for pretty much nothing but at the end of the day, we pay money to go on holiday and a smile goes along way! 10 oclock comes and you can get two drinks per person, they would constantly look at 11 oclock, making you feel uncomfortable, as to leave. Although Mehmet and the tall boy (sorry dont know his name), were very helpful and polite. Mehmet offers boat trips and other day trips, so ask him and he will be more than happy to help you! The security guard - cello, on a night was very helpful, and would always make an effort with you!

    Club Shark. GUMBET.

Stayed for 2 weeks recently. Would give 9.9 out of 10.The only thing that lets this hotel down is the Animation. Same Couple of CDs every day and night continually. In 14 nights we had Karaoke Twice. Everything else was brilliant. Food,Drink, Staff (Especially Mehmet.) Great Rooms comfortable, clean and Cleaners were great. Fridge in room. Fantastic Shower. Would certainly recommend and would return without hesitation if ever i find myself back in Gumbet. Congratulations to everybody involved with the Clu Shark. Regards Dave and Peter.

COVID - 19 GOOD PRICE - GOOD STAY

We stayed here for 2 weeks from the 26th September. We had booked with Jet 2 holiday's and the transfer from the airport took around 1 hour to the hotel (You had to wear a mask on the mini bus) CHECK IN - Hand sanitizer stations as you walk in the hotel. Check in was quick and easy, You had to fill out some Covid forms. We was quickly shown to our room and we had the pool view room. We had requested a pool view room via facebook a couple of weeks before we came. ROOMS- Nice and modern with a king size comfy bed. A mini bar fridge stocked with two bottles of water (Not daily) We had to ask the cleaner for some many of times. Small TV (But we don't watch tv on holiday so it didn't bother us) The shower was a big walk in one and it was powerful and hot. The air con did the job but it would sometimes get noisy. Our balcony was bigger then the others as our room was on a corner (Room 2030) My partner said the hair dryer was good enough. Only negatives on the room is there is not much storage! Also would of been nice to have the fridge stocked daily with water. I did leave a tip the first few days but then stopped after i noticed a coffee stain had not been cleaned on the side, Also i had to tell him to clean our balcony. Also what was quite annoying is we only got one sheet so we asked for a extra one which was no problem but for some reason the cleaner took it a few days in so i rang reception and asked for another and they sent up a massive thick blanket If you like a brew in the morning take your own kettle, coffee or tea, We bought the milk from the shop over the road. POOL AREA- First week was quite busy and like other reviews say, You need to get up early if you want a certain place, Yes people do reserve beds! If they are reserved to early, They will get taken off! If you want the sun all day, The best place will be at the kids pool directly facing the games room, The line of beds right near the shower. They play music around the pool from 10am onwards (They could do with updating the music after 2 weeks of the same songs played over and over again i got sick of it The pool never really got to busy, and i managed to do a few lengths done each day. BREAKFAST- Could be so much better! Hit and miss each day, One day it will be fried eggs, the next omelettes and the next pancakes! You could always get boiled eggs! They also had beans, mushrooms, sometimes tomatoes, Turkish sausage. They had a toasty maker for cheese toasts and cereals. The problem i had at breakfast was the egg station, They would have fried eggs already made and been sat there....When you asked for them they would be to over done, same with the omelettes. It would be so much better if they was made to order, And when i asked for fresh ones i got a dirty look! The food at dinner and tea time was quite good to be fair! There wasn't a huge choice but always something to eat and you wouldn't go hungry! They had burger and chips 3pm till 5pm at the bar area! With the COVID situation , The all inclusive was not self serve. The staff wore gloves and masks, You had to point at what food you wanted. It got a bit frustrating as they didn't have good English, So when it came to the salad it was so hard asking for onion because you had to point 10 times to say "Onion" and they would go for something else. Also when asking for chips, they would put about 5 on your plate and when you would ask for more, they would react as if your asking for the whole basket of chips! DRINKS- Beer was nice, Vodkas was really week. So when getting a vodka and sprite for me and my partner i asked for just a vodka as well and pored half in each drink, and you noticed the difference! Water was available from the fridge at the bar in little cartons. A coffee machine also at the bar , In the restaurant and in the reception! SPA- I priced up a spa just outside the hotel and they wanted £35 for a full package! The same package in the hotel only wanted £20! Sauna, Turkish bath, Skin peel, face mask and full body massage and it was really good, I highly recommend it. I had a problem with my lft shoulder and i came out feeling brand new. 10/10 You can also use the sauna for free but with Covid situation only two people are allowed in at a time. ENTERTAINMENT- Karaoke and bingo I didn't expect much so i wasn't bothered I had a great two week and met some great people, The hotel is really cleand and the staff work really hard. It seems like i have moaned on this review but i would actually come back. We ate out and there is plenty of fantastic restaurants close by. Also a good place to drink is "The Juke Box" When we arrived at the hotel at 12 midnight , we went here for a beer as its open till 2am! So for what we paid for this hotel it was well worth the money! Location: 10/10 Hotel: 8/10 Food: 8/10 Rooms: 9/10 Drinks: 5/10

    CAN'T FAULT ANYTHING HERE

COVID-19 visit Been here a few times now and return because it is more than adequate and always a great price, good food and very nice staff. Usually with Easyjet but this time had to book with Love Holidays who were constantly trying to cancel our holiday but only the accommodation and blamed the hotel for cancelling but as we spoke to the manager who confirm our booking was good, we informed Love Holiday and they stopped trying to relocate us prior to the holiday. There were covid-19 measures in place and all were easy to understand. Temperature checks and hand sanitizer was everywhere within the hotel and in most of the shops. But this is simple to manage, dont put your fingers in your mouth and wash your hands more often hehehehe. Facemasks were mandatory in and all around the streets and shops. Id say 99% of people were wearing them. I noticed more Brits without than Turkish. The pool area was as one can imagine very difficult to manage the social distancing measures but the easy solution here was dont go there, go to the beach and find your own space. If you wanted a sunbed cleaning after someone has moved all you had to do was ask. ROOM Our suite was spot on as always. The maid was great, room was always made up. If we wanted anything all we had to do was ask. Not always was the refreshments in the room replaced but then all we did was go to the bar or vending machines and get the drinks and stuff we required. Not a problem to us if there was say only 3 tea bags instead of 4 or no water, HOWEVER we did have water replaced daily. A handle came off the door, these things happen and within the hour it was fixed. STAFF The staff in every area of this hotel were absolutely brilliant, Emra and his team at the reception, Mehmet and his team in the dining room, Shamus and his team at the bar and all the other helpers here were always so so polite EVERY time they seen us. LANGUAGE BARRIER Yes there is a language barrier but most of them understand basic English and if not you can as we did result to hand signals. Like left a bit, right a bit, next one, next one, up, down and so on. This was particularly helpful when choosing food items. Obviously due to covid we were served instead of serving ourselves but that was all working well; sometimes you need to just ask for more if you wanted it, in a polite way hahahahahaha FOOD We found the food here as always perfect. But you do need to have a bit of an understanding that they do not do bacon and nor do they do HEINZ beans. WHAT YOURE GETTING IS TURKISH INGREDIENTS, WELL AFTER ALL YOU HAVE TRAVELLED TO TURKEY SO ACCEPT THAT AND ENJOY. Breakfast, some moaned was different everyday; this is both true and false. Most part the items at breakfast were the same; the only thing different was the way in which they cooked the fresh eggs. Obviously they are trying to give a different choice on a daily basis. One-day omelette, one fried eggs one-day pancakes. I am not a lover of the cooked breakfast nor do I like pancakes but there were plenty of other things to choose, including freshly made to order cheese toasties. You will, as I never did, go hungry here. Lunch and dinner is pretty much the same process. Dark meat, white meat, chips, vegetables, soup with fresh bread and salad. Desserts and fresh fruit. You can have as much as you want, just ask. 3pm there is burger and chips at the bar until 5pm then there is afternoon cake or a pastry thing. There is no cheese for the burgers so I suggest you get your own if you prefer it. You can get it from the red and yellow shop called SOK go right past the windmill restaurant now called Dream lounge and its opposite the pharmacy. It was 35 pence for a large pack of burger cheese slices. IF YOU WANT MORE ON YOUR PLATE THEY WILL GIVE IT TO YOU. It is not hard to indicate what you actually wanted putting on your plate. All the food was and is always identified by a name card in front of it. REMEBER TO CHECK THE BBQ OUT EVERY NIGHT AS THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING EXTRA COOKED THERE. SPACE As said socially distant measures were in force, which was good. In the dining room you got a table and no one else from out of your bubble or group was allowed to sit with you, which was great. POOL The pool area was far to busy for us but then again it always is. The beds were a bit close but what do you expect? There is not a lot of room and the hotel wants everyone to enjoy their holiday so get a sunbed where you can. BAD BIT IS, THE BRITISH KEPT PUTTING THEIR TOWELS OUT WAY BEFORE THE POOL OPENS AT 8.30am. Would be nice if there was a non-smoking sunbed area but thats not to be Im afraid. Sunbed reservation is not permitted but people are so selfish. The hotel should sort that out but for us we did not sit by the pool anyway. SELF SERVICE Due to covid-19 restrictions, the food was not self serve this time. The chefs, about 5 or 6 of them worked tirelessly to serve each and every individual guest at meal times. The must be knackered after their shift. This also helped me to not over indulge and waste food. ENGLISH EXPECTAIONS We heard some English people complaining about the fact that the food was not English. UM HELLO YOUVE TRAVELLED TO TURKEY, A POOR AND MUSLIM COUNTRY, THEY ARE DOING THEIR BEST HERE. SOME EVEN COMPLAINED THAT THE FOOD WAS TOO TURKISH NOT ENGLISH FFS. Okay, there is no bacon and some of the meat is a bit spicy. The baked beans at breakfast are a bit hard but thats because they are Turkish baked beans not Heinz baked beans. But 99.99% of the time everything was hot and cooked. Occasionally I got a few cold chips, but hey ho. Put them to the side and go ask for some more. EGGS CHOICES You got boiled eggs every day and there was a freshly cooked choice of fried, scrambled, omelette OR pancakes. Theyre just mixing it up a bit offering a difference choice for the pallet each day. The cereals are NOT English and therefore you may not like them but do what we did and take your own. PEOPLE PICKING FAULT Some were complaining about the food and I honestly could not see why here. I am so so fussy with my food and always got a nice hearty portion of food that I enjoyed. Meat, veg, pasta, salad and bread. I would prefer my spaghetti to be swimming in bolognaise but this is not the way the Turkish make it so I just, well you know, when in Rome and all that. The food is cooked, its hot, its plentiful and you can pick and choose what you want. The salad selection was fantastic. A mixture of English and Mediterranean salad with and without dressings. The desserts are not to my liking. The cakes are all soggy and I like the traditional English desserts but the ice cream was tasty and I made do, after all I am/was in Turkey. There is a PROPER waffle café in Gumbet and Bodrum so we went there. The full monty waffle was only £2. EXCHANGE RATE WAS 10L TO THE POUND. Which meant in comparison, a can of coke cola was 30 pence and a litre of fuel was 60 pence, so really good value here for our pound. Transfer was TWO POUNDS by the MUTTAS public coach service (see my other reviews on this) and we were in Bodrum bus station from the airport within 40 minutes. Then a 0.30p minibus ride to the hotel which took 10 minutes. REMEMBER you have travelled to turkey so it will be different to what you are used to in England. Saying that, I feel you will have a great time here and enjoy everything that the Club Shark and the teams have to offer you. The easy jet flight was awful with no social distancing and they even put a passenger next to us whom we didnt know. IMPORT TO KNOW, THE DOLMOOSH WHICH IS THE PUBLIC MINIBUSES NO LONGER ACCEPTS CASH FOR THE 34p FARE. YOU CAN PAY BY CONTACTLESS CARD THEN PURCHASE A BUS CARD FROM A SHOP TO SAVE BANK CHARGES.
