Complexity Rating Defined--A Non Smoking Gift, however

Oh my...how I hate false advertising. This hotel is NOT an international hotel. This is a Chinese hotel that wishes it was international. That being said, it was still an excellent deal. This is a new hotel in an area that is close to the Hongqiao airport and train station. There are several eating and shopping places nearby, as well as a fantastic coffee shop called Some Coffee. It's a great little neighborhood. The room itself was nicely decorated, but you'd better go now since it's new. I don't expect that the cleanliness and quality will last too long, I am sorry to say. The rooms have a fantastic design...very impressive. However, when you sit on the bed, it is as hard as a rock...if you are Chinese, that means its a good bed. If you are looking for a dreamy night's sleep, you'll feel ripped off. After traveling around China for 10 days, it was nice to come into a room that the air conditioner actually would go as low as I wanted it to. I cranked that down to 19C...yes! Finally! An A/C in China that worked on an independent thermostat! This is nothing to slouch at...I am serious. Excellent to not sweat during the night. So this place really reflects the complexities of China...something things were so "over the top": like the lobby chandelier...seriously, the biggest one Ive ever seen! And the towels were amazing. Then, they skimped on the in room tea/coffee. There was no instant coffee, and the tea was some kind of weird homemade brew. Oh, and the small shampoos? We got two shampoos, rinse, and bath gel, but half of them had already been opened! Complexity: a lovely carpet in the hall...but after less than a year, already spots not cleaned, and obvious bleach drips. So sorry. Complexity: Absolute grand decor, but walls like a Motel 6....you could hear everything in the next room. Complexity: sumptuous looking Bed Covering, but bed as hard as a rock Commendable: And perhaps this is what should give it a 4...they offered a non-smoking room! a rare find, in this deathly country willed with smokers everywhere. Thank you for this.

Strange Hotel...all room numbers start 8 whatever floor you are on.

Well Where do i start. This hotel was booked for us by our colleague in China, who advised the reviews were "OK". Upon arrival they would not accept international credit cards only accept Chinese credit cards, so trip up road to a cash point to withdraw cash for the stay of 4 nights. The foyer is open it is not air conditioned and the staff have the outer doors open. On arrival sat waiting for members of our group to return from visit to cash dispenser up the road to pay for rooms. Whilst there i found i had been badly bitten by insects in the foyer. The seats although appear to be elegant be careful you will stick to them. The foyer has a strange smell to it. It may be the all of the fish tank on either side or the foyer servicing what i understand is one of the best local restaurants in the area (needs to be better than breakfast i had there. Well checkin finished normal international checkin scrutinise passports & visa and then allocated room key... ehm..... room 85** head for lifts only 5 floors, ok must be like some other international hotels different lift different floors..... in one set of lifts no 8th floor, in another set still no 8th floor! 10 mins later asked a member of staff, yep i was on 5th floor and all rooms started with 8 the second digit was your floor number. Then there was the scan your key card to go to your floor (keeps the hookers out i understand) but also in this hotel you could not go to another floor, colleagues on 4th floor so we had to meet in lift to then go meet in his room. Really not acceptable The rooms the cleanliness is ok, but maid turns up around 4pm when ready to return back to the room, and insists you leave so she can service it. But the room was clean. Towels although clean were not brilliant white looked like they needed a good boil wash. They also had the feel as though washed in washing machine with fabric conditioner, didn't seem to want to dry you. There are two small bottle of complimentary water in the room, there is a mini bar along with menu but nothing in there at all just an empty fridge. But there is as described by one of our group "Hooker Windows in Bedroom" So when you in shower/ you can make sure your guest is not nicking your wallet. A huge picture window separating bathroom & bedroom, with a hard to operate blind too. Well breakfast....... AVOID (Holiday Inn up Road fab breakfast) Coffee...... Instant comes out of a machine, it is all black or white and always so sweet it is impossible to drink.... Cereal....... yep Cereal there but no milk, unless you want reconstituted hot milk from coffee machine. Well breakfast really an experience, i have travelled China since 2001, 14yrs years and this is by far the worst breakfast l have ever had. Highlights cold french fries with tomato ketchup at side of them. Lots of fried eggs all hard, cooked and cold on plates. No fresh fruit, no fruit juice...... only edible item was toast /anchor butter and Jam and breaksfast worked out at £6.40sterling...... Really really so bad never went down again Joking apart l would not recommend this hotel to any western visiter used to basic standards, like UK Travel Lodge, or similar hotels in USA. I have travelled extensively and this was pretty grim. We used this as a base for an exhibition and had prepaid so didn't move. RE FOOD. 300yrs up road there is a Fab 4 start western style Holiday Inn which was our salvation for breakfast, and evening meals. Air-conditioned no smell in foyer, made you feel back in USA or UK... OH AND THE WIFI LITERALLY NON EXISTENT BIG PROBLEM WITH EMAIL, kept coming & going....again worst i have experienced. Would i stay there again....... Only if it was the last hotel in China. I have perhaps had 300 nights in hotels in China in 15yrs and this was by far my worst experience.

    Strange hotel

I stayed for few hours in this hotel because my flight was cancelled and the airline take me here for couple of hours. All room number starts with digit 8. The three last dogits indicate your room number. Room is bid and have shower and tube. Bed was clean and wifi was good. I dont know why there were lots of condom in room. Maybe client of this hotel need it.!!! I dont have any idea about breakfast because I leave hotel to airport at 1 AM. But reception check in and out process was fast and they can speak English. Noise of airplane durring take off and landing may bother u.

    Good for a budget hotel

Im giving this hotel a good review based on budget hotels. I stayed in their cheapest room (280+rmb) for 2 nights, and Im pretty satisfied with the money I paid for. Amenities are complete and room is pretty clean. I suppose they should do more in terms of cleaning their carpet. I didnt book my room with breakfast so I cant comment on it. The staff are friendly but should smile more. All in all a good budget hotel.
