  Good for the area and the price

  When i first walked into the lobby i was shocked as it looked grand, the rooms however is not grand, but nice, the rooms are big and spacious. nice clean bathtub and hot shower, Has HBO for movies, The wifi however is only available in lobby area or restaurant area, its hard to get a decent cell phone signal inside the building due to the hills around it. Breakfast was good no complaints there, the room is very cold at nights if you open the windows, but do remember to keep the mosquito nets closed, overall i enjoyed my stay and will come back... PS: water heater is switch is outside the unit.. just looked for the unmarked switch with the red light.

  Shazan Inn

  Comfortable inn with reasonably satisfying amenities. Close to several restaurants and convenient stores. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. Babeque dinner was good , especially lamb , soft and succulent. We enjoyed our stay there.

  Grimy, Dangerous Room

  Here are the main points of this review. For details, keep reading and view photos.  -Sparking and broken outlets -Musty room with dirty, stinky carpet -Moldy sink and unclean shower -Dirty light switches -Thin walls and doors -Dirty tea tray and kettle, etc.  -Room card not working -Breakfast stopped by 10 (most food) -Sub-par service We booked a room for two nights but wound up staying for one. We weren't expecting the nicest place, given the cheap price, but thought we had paid enough to get a clean room at least. We were wrong. In our room, one of the electrical outlets didn't work at all. When my husband plugged his phone charger into the other one, it began sparking and he unplugged it immediately. It was extremely dangerous and should be fixed. The carpet reeked of mildew along with undertones of pee, vomit, and dirty socks, among other things. We wore our own socks and slippers at all times, as we didn't want to touch the floor. Leaving the windows open to try to air the room out yielded no improvement in the smell. The bathroom hasn't been properly cleaned in a long time. Something green was growing around the edge of the sink. The shower tiles and door haven't seen a proper scrubbing in ages, as can be seen from the pictures. We avoided showering, as using that one would make one feel less clean afterwards.  The sheets were clean enough that we were able to use them for one night. However, they still had some strangers' hairs on them, along with a few small holes and stains. Clearly the sheets are quite old and could use replacing.  Just about everything else was dirty, from the tables with pencil scribbles to the windowsills full of dust. Each light switch has a layer of grime on top. Inside of the water kettle was also dirty. When we called the front desk to request a clean one, the line was busy. Okay, no problem, we'll try again later. Called again, no answer. Later, we were downstairs and went to ask at the front desk but no one was there. No one showed up in the 20 minutes we waited. Finally someone picked up when we called even later and it took about 30 minutes for the new kettle to be delivered. So service is sub-par as well.  The walls and doors are quite thin. We could hear people outside our door talking as if they were in our room. If they bumped against the wall in their room, even a little, we could hear it in ours.  Our card key stopped working randomly at one point. We tried many times, seeing if we did something wrong, but could only open it when the cleaning staff used their card.  Breakfast was fine but lacking. The food was cold when we started, around 9:45am. Breakfast supposedly ends at 10:30am but the staff stop topping up most food at 10am.  You get your breakfast vouchers when you first check in, one for each morning of your stay. When we checked in, we received only one at first. My husband had to ask for another (because we had paid for 2 nights). When he did, the staff were confused and took a few minutes to figure out that we did need another voucher.  Save yourself the trouble and discomfort by avoiding this place. Spend a little more for someplace that's actually clean.

  A big disappointment for the price we paid! Not worth a single cent we paid.

  We booked this thru online. We arrived at the accommodation after a long drive from Penang. Expecting to rest and start our day early the next day, we parked our car, and took the lift from the 3rd floor to ground floor for registration and then moved up to the 3rd floor again to our rooms. The heater switch was outside the room. We had to switch it on and wait for 15mins before we could enjoy a hot bath. That was all okay, we got into the room and saw two single beds. I personally requested for a queen sized bed. A call to the reception was useless as they said they are not aware of the request and that they had no other rooms to spare. The room was okay in size. However, there were no fans in the room and it was not that cold. The bathroom was filthy.. Used soaps were chucked under the washbasin. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. Luckily I booked for a night. We left as early as we could for another accommodation. Never coming back again and would never recommend it to anybody.

  Satisfactory

  The hotel is nothing great if you have your expectations very high. To us it was ok - good location, good friendly staff members, satisfactory facilities, ok in terms of value for money. The breakfast spread is fair, but I wish the coffee and tea are not too diluted. Overall, an ok experience if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and if you don't set your expectations too high.
