  A Japanese Experience for a Reasonable Price

  A charming ryokan with very friendly, helpful staff. Their chief selling point is having views of the lake from every room. The room was spacious, clean, and traditional, and the futons were comfortable. The rooms and hallways do have a faint odour of tobacco, though not enough to be overwhelming, and the room had an efficient air purifier. We didn't try the public onsen because we rented one of the private baths (¥1,620 for 45 minutes), which are outdoors but covered with a roof, making them great for gazing at the lake in any weather. The room also had its own showerhead and bathtub. Although we only had the basic meal plan, dinner was more than enough to fill us, and breakfast included a buffet, so it was certainly good value. As an unexpected bonus, they provided us with fully vegetarian meals without any problems. The ryokan is located about a 15-minute drive from Kurayoshi Station, but they have free shuttle vans to both pick up and drop off guests, so it was very convenient. Overall, it's a charming example of a traditional Japanese ryokan with a few extra frills and a very reasonable price tag.

  Fantastic Ryokan

  Sennentei is reasonably priced and relaxing. There is a beautiful outside Onsen with Lake views and adequate facilities for a good wash. Food was great, a nice balance between the more adventurous Japanese traditional dishes and the recognizable staples of Japanese cuisine. I think we had the more basic room, but even then it was fantastic. The futons were comfortable and the lake view was stunning, especially in the morning for the sunrise. The English communication was good, though admittedly we used a little of our basic Japanese to help things along. The staff were all warm and friendly. The manager (I presume he was the manager?) went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall - a very pleasant experience.

  Beautiful location for a ryokan with onsen

  Location is outstanding, with great view over a lake surrounding the ryokan. Onsen are gorgeous. Rooms are extremely large, with full japanese furniture. Dinner was absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately no western breakfast served. Grilling fish smelling bad at 7 am.
