The staff make all the difference! This is a basic hotel and does not pretend to be other. The rooms are clean enough and reasonably well appointed with functional bathrooms. There is no lift - disabled or mobility impaired guests be warned. There are no safes in the rooms, no minibar, no tea or coffee kit - it's basic. BUT - the staff were, without exception, excellent and went out of their way to make every guest feel welcome and comfortable. The kitchen is very good, so half-board is a good option.

Comfortable hotel, brilliant locationThe Seiser Alm is one of the most picturesque spots in the Dolomites. Great for hiking and for families. The hotel is well located, comfortable and good value for money. I stayed over the Ferragosto holiday weekend and the hotel put on a special 6 course gala dinner for all guests, which was really great.

Comfortable and good foodThis hotel is a little dated but has all the essentials and after a hard day's walking we really enjoyed having a bath rather than a shower. Although busy during the day, Compatsch is quiet in the evening when all the visitors have gone home. We very much enjoyed the food even though the salad buffet for pre-starters was a little basic. The cooked choices were all good and the red Lagrein wine remained our choice for the rest of the holiday.

Good hotel unfriendly attitudeWe stayed here for 2 nights during a walking tour of the Dolomites. Our first impressions were disappointing due to the unfriendly welcome and the fact that it seemed like a chore to have to check us in. This was compounded by no offer of assistance with our baggage. The restaurant staff were better and the food overall was pretty good though breakfast was much more limited than many in the area. The fact that they felt they had to put a notice up at breakfast saying people would be charged for taking any food out seemed insulting and reinforced the underlying and unfriendly culture. Far from a bad hotel but a bit of a refresher on customer service wouldnt go amiss.

Very nice short week hereCame by car up all the curves to Compatch, were shown a parking place behind the hotel. We had told we would come in late, and the staff had prepared a cold meal in the room! Very nice area for all kinds of walking and cycling ++, we tried both and had both short and long hikes. The paths are well marked with signs and well prepared, even the ones for «experts». Bought a map in the shop next door - recommended! The same shop also have bikes, normal and el and with all wanted equipment to rent. Only minus is that the breakfast meny could have been more varied with more vegetables, but plus for salat bar before dinners.
