Hotel ok, location and mgmt poor

The evening staff were very nice and the breakfast buffet was also good. On a cold winter's night, the walk to the nearest restaurant is a little far for comfort but I imagine in summer it would be quite pleasant. The room I was in was tiny (about 2x4 metres - including the bathroom) but it was comfortable and clean. In order to heat the room adequately however, I needed to lift the lower half of the curtains onto the windowsill to get any heat from the radiator. These were not insurmountable issues; my reason for giving the hotel the low rating was the owner (Frau Seipel). I only meet her twice but both times were rather scary... at breakfast on the first morning I was quite cold (not having worked out the trick with the curtains and the heater) so wore my overcoat into the breakfast room. Frau Seipel physically tried to stop me from having breakfast with my coat on as this was not allowed (the reason was not really clear but the coat being verboten was repeated several times?!?!). After a couple of minutes explaining that I was very cold, I was finally allowed to enter but given evil looks throughout my breakfast. Encounter number two was upon checking out after the second night: Frau S was pleasant enough (if rather smarmy) until the "how would you like to pay" question; to which I answered that our head office had sent a request with the booking, asking for everything to be charge back to them. This seemed to flick some type of switch as she got very angry and told me (to paraphrase) that she owned the hotel and only she would decide who could charge bills to their company, and certainly not her guests or the people they worked for. Needless to say, after this outburst, I handed over my credit card and left as soon as I could. Perhaps she was having a bad week but it has certainly put our company off staying there again.

Nice Guest House Close to the City Center

This guest house is good clean lodging with an excellent breakfast. Only drawback is the rooms are quite small and if your staying more than several nights they might become smaller! Frau Seipel and her staff are very nice and provide excellent hospitality. The city center with eating and relaxing facilities is only a short walk. Access to the autobahn is also easy and close. I stayed here some years ago for several lengthy periods and enjoyed it then and this stay was just as nice.

    Nice little family run hotel

We chose this hotel because it was near to Hockenheim, where we were watching a DTM race weekend. The hotel is situated in a residential area of Leimen and is very quiet. The rooms are quite small, but comfortable. The breakfast was a very good buffet and the cook would also cook eggs/omelettes to order.

Good location near Heidelberg, lovely hotel

This is an exceptionally well-run hotel, recently refurbished with top quality furniture and décor. Immaculately clean, room was a good size. We had a room at the back, despite being near to road (but not a major one) it was really quiet. Personal service from the lovely owner, who was most helpful. Breakfast was excellent, a wide range of items but with an unusually healthy twist (including smoked salmon) which was much appreciated compared to some German breakfasts. Don't let the exterior of the building put you off, the interior is beautiful. Leiwen is at the end of the tram line so it's really easy to get to the centre of Heidelberg without any hassle at all (no traffic or parking worries!). A small quiet town with a couple of cafes on a square with a fountain, and a good traditional restaurant (Brauerei Ausschank).

Last minute booking - very comfortable

If what you need is a comfortable welcoming hotel for the night that offers nothing fancy but everything you require (except evening meal) then this family hotel is perfect. A large single bed in a clean, tidy and welcoming room was perfect for me. A 30 minute walk to Sandhausen train station perfect for a bit of exercise first thing after a hearty breakfast. I'd be happy to return to The Seipel Hotel. One good thing it appears is that the hotel accepted my booking without actually taking a payment in advance via a booking website which isn't the norm these days. Also prices for the room did not alter at all eventhough I booked just a few hours prior to arrival. Most of these booking websites might proclaim to offer excellent value when in reality any booking last minute often sees prices sky rocket - not so when dealing with the Seipel Hotel. It was excellent value for money.
