  Not worth the expensive price tag

  Unfortunately our stay at this hotel fell far short of our expectations in terms of value for money. At the price we paid (150 Euros per night) we expected more. Our room was small and out-dated; carpeted desk leg, lime green paint on wood-work, carpeted balcony, old furniture. Basic amenities were missing from the room including ironing facilities, tea-making facilities and safe. The walls were so thin that we could hear everything discussed in the corridor and adjacent room. We were woken at 8am by hotel staff hoovering. The breakfast was poor and not replenished regularly enough. On a positive note the staff were friendly, the location was great, parking available, nice views and the hotel was clean. Sadly this did not make up for the quality which certainly do not justify a four star rating in my opinion. Very disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel; certainly not younger couples or families.

  Turned out better than expected

  I booked the last room , and it honestly stated " facing the side with sone lake view" Even being a double room, it was very tiny, but had little table and tiny balcony. Our balcony was the firt row from a ground level, and there was a back door from their restaurant right below and another little guest house across from the room. I was afraid the night will be noisy, based on the location. However around 11 everything became quiet, no cars driving on promenade, no people talking. I knew that hotel has no a/c, so we were prepared emotionally, it was hot we kept balcony open, so called double bed 2 beds next to each other and it more narrow than our standard twin, bathroom neat and clean also tiny. The best perts are location, right across from the lakeside. Location, you have a nice 10-20 minutes walk to Meersburg center.Town is beautiful but lots of tourists bars, etc. So I think it's good when hotel is a bit off tge beaten touristy pass. The biggest gem was a restaurant we had dinner at the hotel restaurant, all staff and especially the owner, were very friendly and helpful restaurant's food tge highest standard The lady owner speaks perfect English and went over the menu recommended local wine, we enjoyed everything. We found pricing for the room and dinner reasonable. If we will ever go back, I will try to book a bigger fancier room and visit at the cooler season

  Great hotel; excellent restaurant!

  We loved this hotel. We chose a large room with a large balcony facing the lake. The hotel is located a short walk from the busy center of Meersburg, making it very quiet and peaceful. Though the room itself was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom was tiny...kind of like that on a cruise ship. The chef prepared an excellent fish dinner...perhaps the best meal of the entire trip, and the breakfast was bountiful. I heartily recommend.

  (selected) rude staff and wifi not reaching all areas in hotel

  We stayed for one night Seehotel OFF Meersburg. The hotel is generally in a good location - facing lake Constance, and on a nice day, the view from the restaurant is very pretty. However, there were a few things that left us not too impressed of the hotel: 1. The attitude of one of the senior staff: at reception, we obtained instructions to log in wifi from a senior-looking staff of Seehotel OFF (who we were advised could be the hotel hostess herself). Upon reaching our room, we tried to use the wifi with our iphones and ipads, however the wifi did not appear on our devices. At other locations within the hotel, the wifi signal appeared, however connecting with it did not prompt the subsequent security-required username and password as advised by this staff. When we came back to the reception to advise that the wifi was not working, we were replied by this senior staff "Sorry, it should work" and upon my enquiry if the login information provided was in anyway incorrect, the answer was short and sharp: "You are wrong". This person offered no help or solution and just walked away. We felt that it was very rude of her. We might not understand Seehotel OFF's wifi functioning but we generally understand the working of wifi in general, due to our work and the fact that we have to work a lot from hotels. 2. The wifi quality - this is annoying but not as bad as the staff attitude mentioned above. I finally found out that the wifi signal would not appear when our devices were put far from our room door (we had a room at the back of the hotel), but if we brought the laptop or ipad to near the room door or out to the staircase, it worked (very slow, but worked). The last time I had to go to hotel staircase to get wifi was in Myanmar 2 years ago. 3. The room we had: we were given a loft room - its floor was roughly 20 sq.m. as advertised, but as it's a loft room, one third of the room was actually sacrificed (plus the ceiling is low), so it was a tight room. We don't think it was worth its price, given the attitude we received. Overall, I think Seehotel OFF has a nice location, however it is not a must - there are plenty of places nearer/more walkable to the pretty town of Meersburg, and you may have more smiles / friendly service there.

  The hotel is nicely located near the lake and has underground parking facilities, the rooms are spacious and clean. The restaurant is good with a nice selection of food. The service is also very good.
