Wouldn't Recommend itIt was very old and very very cabin like - almost felt like I was living outside. Everything was soooo old. Little critters were also very attracted to the property. We spent our whole trip killing gigantic red ants and mosquitoes. We even saw a lizard - all of this INSIDE our room. The maids also hand wash the towels so it feels like I'm living in a village. The chef & food was great, but you can access that from anywhere. Staff was nice, but everybody knew our business lol. Hopefully they fix it, but I don't know. Generally wouldn't recommend this place unless that's your type of thing.

This Is Where You Stay If You're Looking For Laid Back PerfectionI'm also from LA like the poster below me. Everything that person complained about is what has made this place so special. So if you're not a stuck up American and appreciate a simple, authentic experience, come here. The location is perfect. You can walk absolutely everywhere on the beach and take a cab everywhere else. I wake up to coffee on the beach every day. You can't beat it. The staff is friendly and there are a half dozen people watching your back and your stuff when you're out swimming. Things are older here because Jamaicans take care of their stuff and value things rather than throwing them away when they get older like we do. The place is immaculately clean. Even the shared bathroom is sparkling 24 hours a day. I tried to tell them I didn't need fresh linens every day but they won't hear it. And if bugs and lizards bother you, Jamaica is not the place for you. I've taken more pictures of the lizards, stray kittens, crabs and other creatures that live here than anyone will care to see. The staff gave me a device to keep the Mosquitos away that worked like a charm. The price is amazing--even at peak times. My cabin is small and simple but they have more upscale ones that look lovely. The restaurant is more amazing. American style and Jamaican dishes cooked fresh for a reasonable price. They tack it right onto your room so it's like being at an all inclusive place. Except you aren't getting some crappy food from a buffet. I am going to come here forever.

Not quite good enoughStayed a week. Great location, fabulous beach. The room prices are really exorbitant. The standard of the room was just not acceptable anymore , looked like everything picked up at a swap meet. Fridge - ancient , stained horrible. Stove - the grottiest old thing imaginable - took the handyman 2 attempts fiddling around at the back to get any gas going. We only wanted to make a cup of tea! Tap on the wall over sink hanging off wall. A toaster that couldn't reach a power point unless you put it in the sink. Staff all looked about 15 years old. Everything in the cafe stupid expensive. Have to ask for change after paying a bill. They expect you to give a huge tip by default after already being ripped off on the prices. If you walk up the beach about 100 yards to Marley's they have proper grown ups working there. The girl who made the cocktails was a treat to watch working - slick and competent.

October 2014 @ Secrets Cabins @ Firefly Beach ResortJust back from a week in one of the Secrets Tiny Beach Cabins and - --- LOVED IT !! if you are seeking a real laid back basic beach 1970's Hippy Negril experience this is it !! If you want A/C , TV , luxury the parent resort "Firefly" has luxurious villas for that ! Secrets for one is CHEAP , so a traveler can enjoy an extended stay here without taking out a loan , second it is SAFE -CLEAN - Comfortable- Serene - Chill and I will be back - - ASAP !! fyi - the water at resorts closer to downtown can be murky , rusty , silty from a river spilling out into the sea , the water here was crystal clear fabulous ! This place used to be nudist friendly , new owners have nixed that ( thankfully ) . I have traveled extensively to Jamaica all over the island since 1982 & can attest that this place is a hidden rare jewel ! For those like me who appreciate a more close to nature experience ( it is a bit like "camping" in a primitive mtn cabin ) . The staff, mgr & new owners are Fantastic , the Firefly's C'Grapes beach cafe & bar is open breakfast-lunch & dinner with reasonably priced quality food , bar is always a nice hang-out ! Complimentary Blue Mtn Coffee EVERY morning !!! Are you kidding me !! I will NEVER stay at an all-inclusive ( as I last did at wife's insistence in 1992 Sandal's Negril) again !! This place , like the REAL Jamaica is for people with a bit of a sense of adventure ! :) Now this was Oct. & it is cooler - I can see it being a bit HOT in August , but so is Alabama where I camp at home . Nice Fan in every "shanty" - - I made a nice video search on youtube for Firefly Beach Resorts , Secrets . You arrive a stranger , you leave "family" - - this place is already FAMOUS around the world so shhhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell too many people !! p.s- don't miss the "Love" bus free bar hopping tour !! One Love !

Jamaican SimplicityIve been travelling to negril for about 4 years.... and this is the first time I stayed at Fireflys.... I always hang out right there at that part of the beach but had been a little nervous about the "naked" factor lol... but thats is no longer the case! Stayd in cabin 4 and all I have to say is I LOVE FIREFLY'S !!!!! The staff is amazing great chats had with everyone... great security, great location .... I loved the outside showers (just gt there before the location flying visiotrs after the sun sets lol) everything was easy cool ...typical jamaican. My bestie was staying else where and would love to just hang with me on the beach. I cant say how much I loved all of the staff because typically thats what makes a place a good place... the hearts that welcome you as their own. I will return most definitely..... love to you all. I will be looking into the other rooms you provided also in future.... the one with the kitchen etc over looking the beach may be my next choice;) Oh yeah cant go not saying how fantastic the ladies are that clean your room and wash clothes for you at a tiny price.... and finally to everyone wondering Security is awesome.... I left my things everywhere -tablet, laptop, money etc etc(lol sorry!!!) and there is absolutely nothing to ever worry about not that i did because again I cant say it enough this is a cool place with cool people. Irie and calm vibes all day.
