Great for a girls' getaway!I've been here a few times with my husband, but this weekend was just for two of us women "of a certain age'. Our suite was very comfortable, and we enjoyed the variety of art on the walls. Dominique and her staff are delightful hostesses; they make outstanding breakfasts, and encourage lingering to chat with fellow guests. The proximity to McConnell's ice cream is a definite plus. . . I/we will continue to visit often!

Romantic and RelaxingThe Secret Garden was just what we were looking for in a mid-week mini trip to Santa Barbara. The breakfasts were delicious and we were able to enjoy them in the garden patio each day. Dominique and Stephanie were gracious, friendly and accommodating to our every need. The location is in a quiet neighborhood, with close access to everything. I was able to take a walk each morning, heading a different direction each day. Dominique was very helpful and knowledgeable in providing a local map and suggestions on highlights of Santa Barbara for us to consider. Thanks for a very relaxing time!

It was truly a garden room -- down to the spidersWe thoroughly loved Dominique. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable, from bringing us breakfast (due to COVID-19) and asking us what we wanted the next day to cofee refills and even making our bed when we were gone for the day. She also went out of her way to ensure our wine tour was on schedule, and she even made the MOST DELICIOUS turkey and cheese sandwiches because our wine tour didn't include lunch. And Peanut, her cat, was very cute. We stayed in the Garden Room. It was small, just a bedroom and bathroom. No dining area. But outside there was a table and chair set, so we enjoyed our meals. But be warned: Over the two nights we were there, we killed something like five spiders. All were small, but I think that's a lot. Also, the room faces east and has two skylights right over the bed, so it gets bright early. Overall, a really nice change of pace and a truly considerate host.

Too priceyToo pricey for what they offer. Rooms are too small, not updated, TV very small. The place is quite and pleasant. Breakfast....if you stay more than one night, you will get the same food. We got the room with the hot spa, and thanks GOD we did!! that way we had more space to move and not stuck inside the room. But like I said, for the price, we could stay in a 5 star hotel.

Best breakfast!!!!!We live fairly close (an hour away) and for the last ~20 years or so we usually visit Santa Barbara at least monthly for shopping/dining and usually three times each year for 3-4 days. We have stayed at ~10 different hotels or Inns. This was our first time at The Secret Garden Inn. Dominique provides the best breakfasts and most personalized service that we have ever received in Santa Barbara. She is a very warm and friendly Inn Keeper. We have traveled significantly throughout the U. S., Canada, Mexico and Europe and the breakfasts and service rank with the best we have experienced. The Inn was built in the 1920s so if you want/need/expect a modern facility, you will be disappointed. If you want quaint, clean and quiet, you will be pleased. When we stay overnight, we prefer to walk to lunch and dinner and have our favorite spots along State Street and the waterfront. We also enjoy walking around the neighborhoods, 3-4 miles each day. The Inn is excellent for neighborhoods for walking but not that great for walking to lunch and dinner if headed for anything from central (~1000 Block) State Street to the marina. However, the Inn has excellent parking if driving is your preference. The grounds were winter time attractive so we expect they are beautiful in the Spring, Summer and Fall. There are a lot of nice little hideaways around the Inn for outdoor dining and/or enjoying a glass or bottle of local wine. We felt that the price was reasonable.
