Chosen for an overnight stay in Fernandina Beach, FLMy wife and I decided to stay overnight for a morning Dr's appointment the next morning and selected the Seaside Amelia Inn, which is located beachside and had a good room rate as well. Upon arrival we were efficiently checked in, presented with fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and made to feel valued and appreciated. The front desk clerk was wonderful and very helpful. We inquired about what she might recommend and she immediately suggested Joe's 2nd Street Bistro for great steaks and seafood. Her pick was seconded by another staff gentleman who overheard our query and he too said it was wonderful. As it turns out Fernandina was featuring a restaurant special dinner menu where numerous dining venues were offering a prix fixe (fixed priced) menu with multiple courses. We were also given a discount dining and shopping discount card as well. Adding to our experience, we were told we were being upgraded to an ocean view unit as opposed to our street view unit we booked. Needless to say, it is always nice to be treated as we were and it left a positive experience for both of us. The inn is spotless and in good repair. As we ascended to our third floor room, we entered our room and noted it was more of a mini-suite with two rooms. Immediately entering the unit was a queen bedroom and on the outer wall, a sitting and work area, consisting of a double sleeper couch, TV, microwave, good size apartment refrigerator and coffee maker. A small desk and desk chair completed the room's furnishings. The room had a small balcony with two deck chairs overlooking a partially obstructed beach view. The inn is actually one building back from the sandy beach, given a restaurant/lounge is adjacent and directly in front of the inn beachside. The bath was adequate, clean and everything operated the way it should. On the downside, the couch was hard and uncomfortable to sit on, the noise level between rooms was high, the gents in the accompanying room might as well have been in our room since their conversation was so clear coming through the walls. Early morning slamming of doors as they entered and exited was like pistol shot "BANG"! So the acoustics are not that good. The bed and bedding were comfortable and our nightly sleeping experience was fine with the early on talk from the other room ending around 11 pm and the door banging around 7 am the next morning. We were told that breakfast was served from 7-10 am and took advantage of it. The hot coffee and orange juice was welcomed and a nice hot breakfast was served as well. Our server prepared scrambled eggs, bacon, grits and waffles, additional pastries, yogurt and rolls and toast as well as cereal and milk were also on hand. Mask enforcement and social distancing was enforced and fine and each table had been sanitized and held hand sanitizers as well. The breakfast was hot, good and sufficient, better than most and the eggs seemed to be 'real eggs' not the powdered variety. The server in the breakfast room was personable and attentive. Our overall experience with our reception, service, treatment and stay was very good. As for the uncomfortable couch and noise, worth mentioning but not a deal breaker. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Great locationI stayed 1 night just to see the ocean. Although an older property with small rooms, it was clean, right on the ocean and the staff were very pleasant. It exceeded my expectations. I might add that the bacon served with breakfast was some of the best Ive ever had.

Seaside SadWe hadnt been away for 3 years and mistakenly decided to stay here after a friend recommended it. Upon calling I was told they had an Ocean View room, and booked. I assumed it was on the Ocean Front but instead we got a small room facing the beach parking lot with a side view of the beach if you can manage to look past the cars in the lot. The walls were thin and I couldnt get to sleep because of the noise from other rooms, the hall and the elevator, I could hear people talking all night long. The sheets were soft and comfy but the mattress was hard and uncomfortable. The room felt dirty and old, in need of updating for the price. When I looked online the price we paid was for an Ocean Front room but we were booked in a side view room instead and they had no other rooms available. I decided to take a bath and I couldnt believe the mold and dirt under and around the perimeter of the bath. It was disgusting. Fixtures were old and looked dirty. I tried to clean it and it was removeable but clearly their cleaning crew and management didnt get the job done or care. The decor is old and outdated and very used. Our room had a strange shelf on the wall under the TV, not sure what purpose it served. The suite has 2 rooms a very small bedroom with a bed and 2 nightstands, you felt closed in. The LR was ok, windows looking out but it was also small, and decorated oddly. The pool area was rusty, and dirty looking, no one used it, in dire need of an update, even a coat of paint would improve it. The nicest area was the roof top deck. It had nice furniture inside but just chairs amd a table on the outside. It could have been so quaint and well decorated not sure why indoor space is better on the deck that outside. It just looked like no one cares and at the amount you pay per night, its definitely not a place Id ever stay again or recommend. The staff however were friendly when making my reservation, the desk staff was nice but none of our issues could be resolved. Super disappointing.

Simply CharmingCharming old hotel without the stuffiness. Located on the north end of Amelia Island near Fort Clinch state park and right on the beach. Within easy walking distance of two restaurants. Our room was a bit small but quite comfortable, we had a balcony but unfortunately it rained so we couldn't enjoy our morning coffee outside. Great staff who are very helpful. Your choice of outside or underground parking. Fast elevator which also goes to the underground parking area so you won't get rained on. Great hot breakfast served by a nice lady who is a veritable travel expert. Cute shops in Fernandina Beach west of the hotel. Our rest was very comfortable, so happy we picked this charming hotel.

Dirty and run dowmMy husband and I stayed at the inn for two nights The staff was very friendly That is the only positive thing. The room was dirty and disgusting. The carpet stained. The sofa in the room was stained and felt like you were sitting on a piece of wood. The bathroom door hit our bed and would not open all the way. I can keep going on. Stay away
