  Roaches!

  I have been staying at the Schooner for many years. As one of the time share owners, I pay to be there yearly. This year I was shocked to see roaches!!! It was so embarrassing because I came with a friend who had never been to the Schooner. She saw the first roach in the bathroom. I called the front desk who acted surprised to hear that I saw a roach. She said the exterminator had been there, and perhaps that is why I am seeing roaches! The next day they sent in an exterminator. During the week that we stayed, we saw and killed a total of 5 roaches. That is horrible. My other problem with Schooner is that the quality of furniture, toilet seat and televisions is so cheap. It is clear that the management does not put in a lot of money in the upkeep of the hotel. The televisions are so small! Most hotels now have televisions that are at least 42 inches. These televisions are no larger than about 27 inches. But the good thing is that it is close to the beach. And we did go to just relax and chill. Other than the roaches, everything was ok. During COVID, there was no maid service, but they did bring immediately as many towels, wash cloths or linen that you requested. I was fine with that. The front desk staff was friendly and responsive to my needs.

  Friendly Staff but Worn Out Condo

  Ill start with the good - Our unit had a decent side ocean view and the staff were always friendly. Safety precautions related to covid were followed by staff and guests. There were restaurants, ice cream options, shopping and putt putt within walking distance of 1-3 blocks. They also offer a towel exchange. The not so good - This place is looking pretty worn out. The carpets were old and the window in the bedroom leaked when it rained causing a musty smell to the place. We found and killed roaches several times during the week and noted that others had reported the same. The TV was about the size of a computer monitor and while we didnt spend a whole lot of time in the room, it was hard to see. The cooking pots and pans were pretty limited and I was glad I brought a couple of my own. The bed wasnt very comfortable and this lead to ally of tossing and turning, with poor sleep quality.

  Great location and staff

  If you are looking for stellar staff and service welcome tonSchonner II! The unit is located on the beach with new appliances and very clean. One item to be aware of is the dated living room furniture, it is time to be replaced.

  Great Stay

  From the workers to the location it was a great stay. The only problem I had was the couch was very uncomfortable and it made my back sore from sitting on it. The oven was very old and needs to be replaced. I saw other reviews about roaches. I didn't see any live ones but there was one little dead one on the first day and I got rid of it and the rest of the week no problems. I would come back and stay again.

  TVS OUTDATED, (do not work,) produce a freezeHOT WATER ran out in middle of shower.

  What couldnt be wrong with a room that you booked, hoping for a generally and up to date experience. The hotel was not a resort. It had one outdoor swimming pool that was open, and although heated- the hot tub was not in working order. Moving on to the rooms? The bed was hard as a rock. But, the simplest of amenities expected were not of working order, either. Firstly, the TVs freeze, and do not produce a channel. Secondly, very dissatisfied to find halfway through a short shower, the hot water ran OUT. So no TV, no showers. The jets, in the tub, even if the water had remained warm, did not work. Those are the two simplest things in my opinion for a ONE night stay priced at $114, check out bright and early at 10am.
