  Ancient glory with all mod cons

  A beatiful old buiding going back 600 years which has been well converted into an Hotel. The rooms on the first floor were spacious and delightful and all a little differed - some even had their own sauna. The Hotel is set in a wooded glade a few hundred metres off the main road at Bobbin where there is a beatiful 14th century church. The restaurant and bar are in the basement which can be reached internally or from the garden. High standard of cooking with especially good deserts. Some outside visitors come just for the food. The breakfast room is with reception on the second floor and has a magnficent stucco cieling featuring hunting scence and the 4 seasons.

  Staff that ruins everything!!!

  Well, we really looked forward to this night at Schloss Spyker. Me and my girlfriend are romantic and as I was reading about the history and surrounding, I thought that this is IT. Well, the castle really is wonderful and you feel the history, BUT - the staff, especially CHRISTOPH KRAUSE is the worst experience in hotels ever! If you had your confirmation from this man, do not trust a single word. I made a reservation over e-mail, get the confirmation from mr. Krause including the table reservation in the restaurant. So far OK. BUT then it started. We arrived at the hotel, reception closed. I went to the restaurant, very nice and kind waitress - but she knew nothing about the reservation and even about the table in restaurant. Anyway, she tried to help me and give me two rooms we ordered. One room was not ready, sheets were not on the bed. Diner OK, but in the morning we scared the maid who came unexpected to the room - SHE THOUGHT THAT THE ROOM IS EMPTY (the one that was not ready). Absolutely no communication between the staff. Absolute berserk came a few days after we got home - I got the letter by post saying that I did not pay for the bewerages in the restaurant. That was the total end! There was a bill attached with beverages we did not have - I checked it many times and then found it - the bill was from a day before we arrived! I have no words to describe how I felt. Like a thief! Just to explain, I paid the diner for 4 people in the restaurant (bill for 126 EUR and I gave 150). I only hope Christoph Krause is fired - if not, run as fast as you can out of this hotel!!!

  Old glory

  The castle is charming and the stuccoed ceiling too, not to mention the small bronze masterpieces of Arp, Rosso and Mirò in the breakfast room. My room was a little bit old but the location is excellent. Why breakfast is so difficoult to arrange? May be a lack of waiters?

  Relaxed & comfortable

  Schloss Spyker is a very comfortable hotel, not as luxurious as you might expect from the building. The interior design in the room is rather sober. Breakfast is very good with many, also dietary options. The music played was sometimes too mellow for my taste (ABBAs Thank You for the Music in a classic-light version and cheesy lounge music) - please stick to classical piano music next time! The service is swift, personal and very friendly - great staff. The location is perfect, a lot of beautiful nature around. The restaurant is not special but OK. A drawback are the curtains, which do not really do what they should do, to shelter from the light. The general atmosphere in the castle is relaxed, not as tight and disciplined as often in German hotels. A great experience, highly recommended!

  Lovely place

  Nice environment, lovely park, clean and comfortable rooms, comfortable bed, great breakfast, historic! We spent two nigthts at the hotel, it's a good location for excursions on Rügen. We would love to come back.
