DisappointingThe hotel needs renovating and proper management. We stayed there for 2 nights. It shows that no one really manages the property. Plants on the terrace were dead, tables were dirty and area around the castle just not tidy. They do not even have real candles in the hall but led-light ones. WI-FI DOES NOT WORK! Our bedroom 20 shared the window with the room next door which had a balcony on which other guests were smoking cigarettes which we could smell in the room (it was a very hot weekend so we decided to sleep with windows open). Breakfast was just AWFUL and not worth 8.50 euros - where did this price come from???. We arrived at 9.20am and there was hardly any food or any member of staff. I finally found lady who kindly said she will cut some extra tomatoes and ham. Eggs were cold and so was the water for the tea! Cleaning staff was very noisy hovering the area outside our room at early hours on Saturday. I will not recommend this place to anyone, it is expensive for what it is and it look they make money from offering function rooms for wedding parties.

Manage your expectationsIf you are expecting a five star country house hotel then you will be disappointed. This is a beautiful nineteenth century party "castle" which somehow got through communism with 99% of the exterior and 90% of the ground floor interiors unscathed. Since then, three star bathrooms have been installed upstairs, and the bedrooms furnished with furniture off the cheap end of Alibaba. Having looked at the economics of a similar building, I can see why they offer only breakfast, and why reception closes at 18:00. But that does mean that guests can roam the building. I expect it would be a bad idea to stay on a Saturday when there is likely to be a wedding taking over the ground floor and making noise until late (although maybe that is less of a problem in Germany?) So, why would one stay? Well, just as a BYO restaurant enables one to drink much better wine than one could otherwise afford in a restaurant, here (especially during the summer) bringing a picnic enables one to eat it in the grandeur of the terrace (and probably inside would be possible too) for much less than one would pay in a place that was offering restaurant service. I could see this working especially well for a group of friends. Beyond the lawns, the park is neglected (possibly owned by the local council), but there are some amazing trees hidden within it.

The Romantic Hide-away in Western PomeraniaWe stayed three nights at Neetzow Castle and enjoyed every piece of it. The castle is tucked away in the little village of Neetzow behind the high rising trees of the castle park. The building is in very good shape, the interior is well maintained and clean - gratefully not "over-renovated", proudly showing much of the original beauty of the floors, ceilings, stucco and doors, and its wrinkles breazing the charm of the old time. We loved it. The rooms are tastefully furnished in a modern style fitting in well with the old rooms. Our bathroom was nice and clean. We stayed in a large comfort room overlooking the lawn and lake behind the castle - no better wakening up in the morning with casting your eyes at that view. The highlights of the days were clearly our starting with a good breakfast on the terrace in the morning and returning to a glass of wine on the lawns and the same terrace at dusk. If you are looking for a quiet get-away in the unagitated area of Pomerania - this might be your place as well. Biking across the countryside to Anklam, kayaking on the Peene river, or taking your car to Greifswald might be some of the activities for the days ... between the nice times on the terrace in the morning and in the evening :) Many thanks to Ms Roder and Mr Radisch for their kind explanations of the place and the nice talking. If you want to read about the castle - don't miss to ask Ms Roder for the book "The Castle in the Moon" written by the son of the last owner. Neetzow Castle is definitely a recommendation from our side. Reading some of the other reviews, beware that the hotel does not maintain a restaurant; drive 10 min to Liepen or Stolpe for a regular (and nice) resaurant.

Romantic stay in a historic buildingRoom was a bit old fashioned but charming with big old windows. Plenty of space in the room. No air condition, so we had to leave the window open. No wifi in the rooms. Breakfast was really tasty with a wide selection of food. Outside surroundings was nice. No dinner available so we had to drive to the next village. Reception closes at 18. I would like to come back :-)

Nice location and area for relaxingThe location is great in a (very) small town and you will get some peace and relaxation if you need a couple of days off the beaten path and some good nature.. Room is a little outdated and could need some TLC and a bucket of paint, but still feels cosy and clean. The building is very nice and the breakfast areas are very nice.
