  Comfy stay

  I received a great welcome to the hotel and found the service to be excellent during my stay. The hotel is a bit dated inside and out, but that doesn't take away from the service, cleanliness and comfort - as well as the amenities and yummy breakfast. Well located about 10 minutes walk from the train station.

  Dinner was amazing...

  We visited Scandic Gallivare for Dinner when we actually stayed at Quality Hotel in Gallivare. Food options are limited in the town so we thought we would try the other hotel. We called ahead to advise that we were both Vegan and the Head Chef Anders said he could make a variety of options as well as what was on the menu. When we arrived we were greeted by him and he told us a few suggestions and made some fantastic vegan burgers with sauteed vegetables. The food was amazing and he was very attentive to our dietary needs. It was refreshing to get this service and we will be back if ever in the region again. Cant recommend highly enough.

  In one word: "underwhelmed"!

  I've been in Scandic hotels many times and I know their quality. But this particular branch is far from anything you would expect of a Scandic hotel. The staff is very unprofessional and it's hard to get a word out if them. The manager passed us and didn't even look at us, let alone say hi. We asked for a breakfast without meat (during the corona virus the breakfast is prepared made. No complaints there) and we received 2 bread rolls with just lettuce and cucumber on it. On top of that, the bread was super dry, as if it was a week old. The room looked alright at first sight. But soon after entering it was quite clear that cleaning isn't their first priority. It's dusty, stains on the bed. Another weird thing, but nothing to go crazy about, was that the tissue holder in the bathroom was empty. So, I thought no big deal, I'll go to the reception and ask for the tissues and refill it myself. Then the receptionist tells me that they don't offer them anymore. Then why do you leave that dispenser hanging on the wall? Overall, very disappointing. ESPECIALLY for this price. If this would have been 600 SEK, I'd let it all slide. But 1450 SEK for this much of a let down... I completely regret spending my money on this. Especially during these corona virus times. You would expect hotels to lower their prices a little to attract more people.

  Dissatisfied on every level

  We booked this hotel expecting the standard that Scandic hotels is known for but we were shocked, hugely disappointed and a little disgusted too. The staff was so unfriendly and unwelcoming, the receptionist didnt even say hello when we arrived to check in, she just stared at us. The next morning a different receptionist, same thing, very unfriendly, no greeting, not one smile from any staff member. Even the cleaners were unfriendly. The structure itself is very outdated, and the walk to our room left us wondering if we were to sleep in some kind of a deposit room. At the landing to the stairs that took us up to our room there was a pile of beds all stacked on top of each other, covered with a sheet that had some broken chairs on top and what looked like food remains (giving the benefit of the doubt that it wasnt mice droppings!) Our room was dusty, with the previous guests name card still lying around, the bins had someones chewed tabacco (snus) remains in it, very unhygienic considering the current covid-19 situation, and the soap dispenser in the shower had dried remains of soap around the pump. The breakfast was utterly disappointing, we dont eat meat, so we were given some prepared packs of vegan yoghurt, with some rolls that had no cheese, and the bread was completely stale, and an apple! No muesli, cereal, or pastries, no care or attention and all of this for 140 per night?! We left the food in the table and filled up on tea and biscuits because thats all there was for us. Considering the drop in tourism and business due to the virus outbreak, you would expect the rooms to be sparkling clean. Were stuck in Sweden due to neighbouring countrys borders being closed and have stayed in Elite, Comfort and Scandic hotels all around Sweden, this was a shocker! Even Entrance Norre, a smaller hotel was a huge improvement.

  Best breakfast in town

  We had breakfast here twice. The food is good and fresh and there is a lot of space in between the tables , obviously because of covid but the environment is cozy . It was very lovely to eat here. We didnt stay in the hotel yet but I am looking forward to doing this. I think that this is the best place in town as hotel .
