  Hotels are to sleep!

  We checked in with a lovely lady in the desk who promptly said we have a Christmas party here tonight I will try and get you a quiet room. And food is Xmas dinner. So we went out to eat and came back after travelling a long day. The party it seems was in each Room next to us and the whole floor! The normal party get ready was totally acceptable its not the others guests fault- but from 10.30pm -2am shouting banging of doors having to be up at 6am -rest is something we did not get! If thats what trying to get you a quiet room does - well we were using this chain on the 12 more days we were travelling back to the UK - needless to say we are now in another hotel where they respect the need for peoples sleep. When booking there was no mention of this - or we would of cancelled! Sadly this is not a hotel for a good nights sleep. I was so unhappy I didnt even speak to receptionist on way out ( I let my husband deal with it because if I heard a feeble Im sorry I would of blown with only 3.5 hours sleep! ). It spoiled the whole day as both of us were exhausted from the lack of sleep and the extra hassle trying to find new hotels . If you want a good night sleep I recommend the car over this place!

  Clean and nice

  The staff was nice and very service minded. The hotel is clean and has good beds. Breakfast had a good variety of food and they had food that was suitable for people with allergies. Its situated in the centre of town so shot way to shopping and train station.

  We slept here for one night on our way to Bodø

  We stayed there on our way to Lofoten and Nordkapp. The hotel is okay for one night, but it was worn down and in need of renovation. We also experienced some noise from cars, mopeds etc., but is in the city centre so we have to expect some noise I guess. The mattresses were very poor, so one night was enough. The room was also very hot in the evening and night, and there was no air conditioning.

  This hotel is older, the rooms are ok but service is poor. Restaurant is closed due to Covid, only a roll for breakfast - other hotels offer much better options. Staff was not very helpful, defect lightbulbs in the room and it looked as if they not cared.

  Solid hotel along the way - breakfast options disappoint

  We stayed here for one night using Scandic Bonus Points during July 2020. We perceived the staff as friendly and helpful when requested. The property itself is old but we found the quality of the rooms to be good. The beds were comfortable, the room had an ok size, the water pressure in the shower was amazing! As the hotel is older there is no ventilation, but we had a fan in the room which was really appreciated and gave us a good night sleep! I much rather stay in an older hotel with solid interior than in a recently renovated hotel with poor quality interior. We had a super disappointing stay at the Scandic Syv Søstre a few days before - a hotel that seems to have gone through renovations but with poor quality of materials and a worn down impression. This is not the case for the Scandic in Fauske. I hope when they do renovations that they wont fall for the same Scandic trap which I have seen in so many other Scandic hotels to put design before functionality and quality. On the downside, the breakfast options were very disappointing. Yes, COVID 19 places some restrictions, but at the time of our stay a week had already passed since Norwegian authorities allowed full breakfast buffets again - but this hotel only offers a pre-packed bread roll and juice / fruits for take away. We had full breakfast buffets in hotels in Tromsø the nights before, and even a restricted buffet in other Scandic hotels in the beginning of July. I suggest the breakfast options to be improved soon again. A point that did not influence our rating as it is probably outside the hotels control, but could be important to consider: There is a lot of noise from the street right outside (E6) and massive amount of seagulls on the roofs, so sleeping with windows open is not an option. Overall a pleasant experience, next time hopefully with a much better breakfast :)
