  Menú degustación excelente

  Hemos parado hoy a almorzar ya que hemos visto que el sábado y el domingo hacían algo especial. Nos han dado un menú excelente con cosas muy típicas de la zona que nunca habríamos probado Todo exquisito, con una gran calidad precio y un servicio impecable

  Small rooms and frugal

  Strange bathroom with no shower stall. When you shower, the entire floor is wet and slippery. Also, only one little cake of soap for 2 men! Thin pillows. I would rate this venue as adequate, and not of value for the room rates. Very nice staff, though, and clean.

  Bardolino

  Stayed for 5 nights in this hotel around Mid July. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Room was fine. Plenty of food and drink choices for breakfast. Few minutes walk to the front of Bardolino and bus station, so excellent location. Bardolino itself is stunning. I would stay here again.

  Warning: Check room details carefully!

  In brief: Hotel rooms at Santa Maria are small, dark, tired, and in our opinion below standard.The booking.com photos flatter the condition of the hotel.There are better hotels for your money!The owners do not appear to have updated the decor/appearance for a long time.The bathroom in the double room is awful. Do not use unless you read the various reviews and accept it's for you! In detail: We've used Booking.com a lot and have generally relied on the photos rather than details of room size/facilities, and have never been disappointed. especially over the last 10 days as we have been travelling around Lake Garda, booking as we go. On this occasion we made a big mistake. We wanted to stay in Bardalino for 2 nights and thought £125 per night should get us decent quality. Not so at Hotel Santa Maria!. We actually thought we had the wrong hotel when we checked in and saw the double bedroom. Dark, small, no shower cubicle we complained and were offered another room exactly the same, then an 'upgrade' to a double room with a balcony for 1 of our 2 nights. We did not wish to stay at all, but when all attempts at a refund were refused and it was late in the day, we stayed but decided that we would check out to another hotel for second night. *There was no air conditioning controller in the room, and at reception were told there was one remote for all rooms and it had to be returned after initial use! *The WIFI was not working (apparently not hotel's fault) *We had to pay 10 Euros for the door key( refunded on vacating) *The breakfast was a fair Continental. Any good points? The receptionist when we arrived was polite and tried her best, including speaking to the hotel owner, but no concession was made. We subsequently checked into another local hotel for the money, less money and 10 times the quality!

  Great site let down by poor ammenities

  We rented an apartment attached to the hotel The hotel has a great situation - easy walk to restaurants and lake. The staff at the hotel were fantastic - really helpful and friendly There is a small pool that was wonderful to cool down in - not big enough for a serious swim The apartment was for 4 of us. There is one bedroom but sofa beds are available in the dining/ kitchen area and living room The apartment is a nice size The issue we had was that we were only allowed one key- with two teenage daughters who wanted to go off and do their own thing - this proved to be a logistical nightmare The cutlery and crockery is for 4 people. So there are no spares for serving food or prepping food - really annoying Also there was no washing machine We were there for 8 nights and had been in Rome for a few days prior to this We needed to get the laundry done We could not find any facility in Bardolino and the hotel staff were bemused that we asked about laundry. They couldn't locate one for us either. The hotel had a lot of German and Austrian guests but maybe they only visit for the weekend We found the lack of amenities very frustrating and so I have marked the apartment down - though I do not believe this was the fault of teh hotel as they appear to manage the apartment for someone else
