Our quad room was average in presentation and furnishings, however included a superb buffet breakfast. Two couples: we had a quad room, on the top floor (3), open plan layout, two double beds separated by a long mid height cupboard, enough privacy at night. Both bedroom sections had separate access to the bathroom. Bathroom had a quirky w.c. a slender, higher than usual, white ceramic creation...it worked OK. The room had sloping beams, we re-positioned a lounge chair to prevent anyone accidentally head butting one beams which sloped down from a high to very low position. Double glazed, full length glass doors led out onto a small patio with a pretty view over an adjacent walled garden. The three armchairs were comfortable, but badly in need of re-upholstery. Bathroom clean, plenty of towels, and hot water, though taps a little tricky to manipulate for temperature control. Have rated this property higher because of the breakfast which was superb both in variety and quality fresh produce, also pride in presentation of the buffet. We had an early arrival arrival from Milan Airport; we advised the hotel in advance of this and requested baggage held until our room was available. The senior receptionist seemed unaware of our early arrival (around 9.30am) and her manner was a little testy, though more pleasant on the second day. Orta village was a pleasant walk, a little up and down; we varied our walking route during our two day stay, the foreshore promenade walk was a pleasant approach to Orta village, and the waterfront. A superb Agri Gelateria near the accommodation was our frequent diversion.

Small boutique style hotelVery clean. Newly decorated and modern Ikea style. Refreshments and cake available free from 3pm was good. Breakfast amazing choice of gourmet styled food. We enjoyed the 20 minute walk along the lake into Orta. This includes a hill. Very hot when we stayed no AC in hotel or room. On the last day we stayed a lot of breakfast food had been eaten and selection limited and not re-filled. The bed was not comfortable. There was no where to sit in shade in afternoon and no sun umbrella. For money hotel good value and staff helpful.

Basic but good value for moneyHotel Santa Catarina is located about a 15-20 minute walk from the main lake-front area of Orta San Giulio. It is very easy to find the hotel when youre driving into the area. Our room was a lot more basic than we expected. The bed was uncomfortable and the shower in the bathroom could do with being upgraded, however it was fine for a few nights stay. Air-con was not included in the overall price and therefore at night the room was very stuffy. The underground car park was the main reason we chose the hotel. Its worth knowing that this costs 10 per day and you are not guaranteed a space if its already full. However, we were told there is a free car park nearby. The ladies on the reception desk spoke great English and were very helpful.

Needs helpWe stayed heee for a week five people age 75, 48, 58, 21 and 19 The hotel is very mixed some of the rooms Have been refurbished our first bedroom had a broken shower and the air con did not work so we got moved to another room which had a lovely bathroom but no toilet seat, apparently they couldn't get any to fit! The bed was comfortable but a total mis match of bedding, no balcony and on a pretty busy road, the towels were so thin you could almost put your finger through! The air con wasn't that efficient and frequently went off apparently they can't do laundry and have the air con on at same time! Breakfast was a strange affair, cereal no toaster and lots of cheese, quiche, pizza and hams and fish the fruit juice was like water The hot water urn broke and there was nowhere to get hot water for tea apart from the coffee machine but if you went near that you ran the risk of being shouted at by the staff! Staff were mixed some nice some rude and really quite unhelpful The snacks during the day were a nice touch We used the car park which was handy as the walk was too far for my father to walk into the centre Rooms and clean towels every day although often at 5:30:6pm when you wanted to come back and get ready for dinner Not brilliant and I wouldn't stay again I'm afraid
