Excellent food and place to enjoyIn the middle of nowhere you can find tourism. It was too cold for bathing, the rooms needed for renovation, food is great, all the dishes are wonderful, but the most caponata, excellent wines, the staff is very nice, thank you chef.

Friendly owners and great food.We arrived extremely late but the owner sat up and waited for us. Kitchen was obviously closed but he asked us if we wanted a drink which we gladly accepted. We stayed for 7 nights, room cleaned daily and new towels daily. Pool was lovely, again cleaned daily with stunning views. We ate in restaurant each night, didn't get menu - the owner/chef delighted us with the variety of local produce/dishes he cooked up served by his family and staff who were always very helpful and courteous. The food was superb. Breakfast was simple but again we had enjoyed it and if you wanted more you only had to ask. The bar wasn't manned as such but all you had to do was find a member of staff and they would get you a drink.

Little adventure in SicilyFirst time to Sicily my friends organised 6 day stay in Agriturismo Sant'Agata. On very late arrival we were met with very friendly owner and despite late hour our dinner was still waiting for us. And it was first of many more great dinners to come. Food was so good , we had breakfast and dinner ever day , and couldn't fault anything. It was great introduction into Sicilian food Cooke by very good cook . Our rooms very very nice , enough room to be comfortable and with nice bathrooms. Lucky for us weather was great and warm and we did use the pool couple time, water tho was very cold . When you coming to Sant'Agata you are in the middle of hills and windy roads, of course car is a must. We did day trips to many attractions around . There is plenty to do and see . And then come back to relax and enjoy in quiet place. Over all we had fantastic stay, ate and drank great Sicilian food and wine and defiantly would come back again one day.

Bitterly disappointedOur experience started badly and only got worse. This "casa" is difficult to find in daylight. At night it's harder still. It's not on our satnav. Well it would be if you used geographical coordinates but who does that. It's not on a detailed Michelin map. Google maps might have helped but there is no signal in the mountains. It took us 90 minutes from the airport and we made a fortunate guess out of many alternative dark country roads. We later met a mature European lorry driver from the Isle of Wight who arrived in the evening and found it the next morning at 10.00am. Still the owner waited up for us and showed us to our room. Well it was more like a prison cell. Cold, dark and with almost no natural light. we asked for the heating to be turned on but they don't do that in late September even if it is freezing and guests request it. It was on for one day later but switched on warmer days. We asked for and received 2 extra blankets for the bed. The room appeared clean but the shower was not much better than a dribble. No balcony, no sun. We slept there. The restaurant was acceptable. Breakfast was the same every day but plentiful. A soft boiled egg was too much for breakfast. It came as a cold hard boiled one. We stayed for lunch twice and had a good spaghetti bolognese each time. We stayed for an evening meal once and the first 3 courses were good but the meat course was rather tough veal in a muddy brown sauce. I couldn't eat it. Cost 25 euros. There is no menu. You get what they give you. Other reviewers have praised the food. Not quite sure how based on our experience. The pool looks nice but naturally it was cold at this time of year. The pool area looks good on the pictures but there are a lot of weeds growing through the decking and we got so many bites from the flies/insects around the pool that it's debateable whether we should have sat in the sun at all. We also got bites in the bed. You have to understand that the "casa" is in the middle of the mountains. The roads in Sicily are generally poor, even the autostrada. In the mountains there are many pot holes, great stretches of rubble and occasionally roads closed due to landslip. They are not repaired. Just closed. The smaller SP roads can be a nightmare and the signposting leaves a lot to be desired. Be prepared to turn back and go the way you came. Basically, the "casa" is remote. You have to go over a mountain to get to the nearest town/village Piana degli Albenesi. They have no restaurant as far as we could find and the one in Santa Cristina Gela is just good for pizzas. Palermo is about an hour away. It's about 30 minutes to get to a "decent" road. We decided to spend 4 days in Syracuse which was lovely and told the hosts we would return on the Saturday to finish the rest of our 2 weeks we booked. We told them verbally and in writing that we didn't like the room and could we have a better one on our return. Despite the fact that guests came and went they told us all rooms were taken on our return and put us back in the same room. There were only 5 cars in the car park and there are 11 rooms. We found the owners to be glum. Never saw a smile once. There is no wifi in the rooms or by the pool. It works very slowly in the "reception area". In this large featureless room there is a reception desk, a bar, 2 sofas and some chairs and dark lighting. There is no one staffing the area regualrly. There is a TV. Would we go back. No. Would we recommend it to anyone else. No.

Fabulous Hotel!!!!Long overdue review. I stayed here this summer with my boyfriend and we had the most incredible experience. This is a family run b+b, the photos on the website do not do it justice. Our room was massive and the food was the best we had during our whole trip to Italy. I cannot stress how lovely the staff was, especially the young guy (I'm forgetting his name) but he made the best Bolognese I've ever had in my life. We will definitely be back!
