Pleasant Stay in the COVID EraWe are returning guests to this wonderful getaway. A great location on the beach. Units are well maintained as are the grounds. Upon arrival it was clear the staff went above and beyond to prepare the units for guests in the age of COVID. Very clean! Even with a heavy load of devices, thanks to the grandkids, the internet speed hung in there in order to handle the multiple streaming going on. Always a pleasant stay with few if any surprises. The office staff is particularly helpful, especially patient when making a new booking. Highly recommended!

The Ghost of Unit 503We are frequent, annual and sometimes bi-annual visitors to Sanibel Siesta and have been for years. The facility is right on the beach, south end of the island, and if you can get units 503, 506, 603 or 606 you'll have a direct view to the beach, just a couple hundred feet away. The buildings are two stories plus the ground floor parking garage which is nice and handy. I'm sure we had not stayed in 503 before, but we did stay in the other end units. Every condo on the property is similar, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, living room, and one or two screened balconies. The resort offers other amenities that I won't explain here. Our first night in late July in Unit 503 proved to be quite interesting. The unit itself is well-kept though the stove is a bit tired but everything else is super clean and nicely kept. At about 10:30 pm I visited the master bathroom and upon leaving was suddenly overwhelmed with a sensation of freezing cold. I was uncontrollably shaking; my teeth were literally chattering, however I was not afraid. This went on for a moment or two and I wondered, could this be a sudden onset of Covid (since that's so top of mind these days). I went out to the screened in porch off the bedroom to try and warm up in the warm, humid air, and after a couple of minutes, I was OK. I didn't say anything at the time to my wife and as stated, I was unafraid, but sure that I had been "visited." That same night, at 4 am, we both awoke to the sound of something crashing to the tile floor in the kitchen. A can of Lysol spray we had was found on the floor. Either it jumped off the counter by itself or was "helped." I am quite sure it was not balanced on the edge of the counter or anything like that. Now, to be clear, neither of us are fans of the occult or anything like that, though we have both had "contact" in the past. Nothing scary; comforting actually, but nothing that occupies our focus. Stuff happens. So, if you happen to visit Sanibel Siesta and you happen to get Unit 503 facing the Gulf, you also may have a "visit" but don't alarm yourself. It was the only such occurrence we had during the several days of our visit. In fact, it was forgotten about by the next day. FYI, I did ask the management office if there had been other reports but they said they were not aware of any and they did not mind my mentioning our experience in this unit. Footnote: The water was very clear during our visit with no seaweed or red tide issues. The shelling is not the best on the south end; if you like to find some shell treasures, you'll need to visit Turner Beach or locations that face west. Restaurants and stores throughout the island were actively observing all pandemic safety precautions and the island was not crowded. P.S.: I did not have a sudden onset of Covid, thankfully; it was just a "visit." From what or whom, I do not know. Be well.

Wonderful week of fun in the sunThis is my 2nd time staying at Sanibel Siesta. This time we were in Unit 306. It was clean and decorated nicely and all of the units are just a short walk from the beach. Check-in wasn't until 3 pm but we happened to get into town 2 hours early. Patricia in the office was so sweet and friendly and let us park in the garage because the previous guests had already checked out. We were able to grab a few beach chairs from our unit's garage and sit on the beach until our place was finished being cleaned. We rented bikes through the office the next day, and again, Patricia was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend renting bikes at least for a few days because the ride into town is a short but beautiful one and it gives you a chance to really take it all in. We can't wait to come back to Sanibel!!!!
