  Not as expected

  Advertised garden room - there was no garden or grass outlook at all - looked into the car park and bins. Felt grubby to sit on the uncomfortable outside furniture in the car park. Pavers were sticky. Really disappointed as advertising photos did not reflect where we stayed at all. Our outdoor seating area was literally in the car park. Shower was mouldy and tap dripped all night long. Only one face washer provided for two people for a 4 night stay. No washing or laundry facilities and only 1 towels provided for the 4 nights. No pool towels provided and no dryer to dry a single towel between pool and shower usage. Only 1/4 roll of toilet paper provided in the room. Staff did hand over 1 single roll when asked. No microwave or electric fry pan in room. Handel and locks on doors outdated and a bit temperamental- got locked out of room episode! Room needs a mirror on the wall. No doona on the bed - only sheets. Felt like I was in a housing commission estate as permanent residents seemed to live in our neighbouring units. Loud Swearing events, drinking ect. Not the type of people Id expect to find staying in a resort accommodation. Obviously covid may have pushed owners into accepting these type of living arrangements for these people. Staff were friendly and promptly assisted when alerted to issues dripping tap issue. Thank you.

  Had a great short stay

  Stayed in a motel room for 3 nights, stared as a stop over with one day but extended as rooms were very clean, and roomy with high ceilings. Front desk was very helpful with tips on things to do in the area. Thanks for making it a great stay.

  highly recommended

  Swimming pool is clean, nice and warm especially in the morning. Can do lap swimming. Receptionist and hospitality staff were nice and helpful. I like the beach access, very short walk. Free limited WiFi; we used our own Netflix accnt. We love the comfort of our bed and and pillows.

  Avoid the "studio" rooms at all costs

  In hindsight it's obvious that the reviews of this place are divided into two categories: the high ratings from those who stayed in the beach houses or villas, and low ratings from those who stayed in the motel. The "studio" my partner and I stayed in for one night had a mattress with hopelessly sagging springs (leading to a terrible night's sleep), a bathroom door that caught on the frame every time it was opened and a shower door that became so stuck at one point that I almost became trapped in the shower. To add insult to injury, despite being a beachside property and having a pool on premises, this place doesn't provide beach/pool towels and expects guests to pay an extra $5 per towel to rent them! Truly, the only good thing about staying here was the proximity to the beach (100m along a pathway) and the great restaurant downstairs. Advice to Sandcastles management, if you read this: if you aren't prepared to bring the "studio" rooms up to an acceptable level, you should stop renting them out. And you need to remove the hire fee for beach/pool towels - if you have a problem with them not being returned, it's no worries to hold a deposit, but the fee itself leaves an unnecessary sour taste for your guests.

  Drunken party below unit

  Stayed in basic studio unit above restaurant for night. V basic accommodation. However there was a loud raucous drunken party held in the restaurant below that went on until about 11.30pm. The swearing was loud continuous and vulgar. If it was a residential area the police would have been called. Had just driven for 5 hours and exhausted. Obviously had no sleep. Wouldn't stay again.
