  Wonderful staff, five star rooms and treatment.

  Situated in the up-market suburb of Mount Pleasant in Harare you will find a lodge a cut above the rest. The reception was warm and friendly. The room perfect, spacious and clean with all amenities you may need. The lodge is situated in a beautiful walled garden with a very nice swimming pool and dining area. David and Liza, the two managers, are exceptionally friendly and helpful and stand ready to cater for every need (and I had some)! Down the road you will find a shopping center with a Pick n Pay and a tranquil coffee shop. The food here is excellent. Prepared by chefs who obviously know what they are doing. I could not find any fault with this place and will definitely be back!

  Book. Your. Room. NOW!

  I stayed a total of 8 days at Sandalwood upon my return to Zimbabwe in quarantine. Ariana(4 years) and Zaviyar(2 years), till this day, remember Sandalwood and think of it as a mini holiday before going to the 'real Zimbabwe'. Everything was so organised and the staff were so efficient! The staff were so welcoming and kind, David amd Debra, in particular. They tended to our every request with such politness and efficiency. The service was just so incredibly royal. They looked after me and made me feel at home and i am forever and eternally grateful! The beds, pillows and sheets were like heaven to sleep on! The best quality guaranteed! And so clean, too! The food was just a whole other epic experience! I mean. Words dont even do justice! The three of us would wait eagerly to see what was next on the menu! I dont think i have ever had such healthy and scrumptious breakfasts before! Not only was the food so good! But the presentation of the food was perfect, as well! Youd think they would slack in something! Everything was beyond perfect. If you choose to stay here you will not regret it and you will definately be making and storing great memories! And if for some reason you cant stay here, go have a coffee and pancakes and just enjoy the enviroment, you will not regret it!

  Amazing stay

  I had a really amazing stay during a lockdown period. The attention to detail from these guys is beyond par. I had the most comfortable stay and I look forward to going back. The manager Noel made sure that I was comfortable and had everything I needed at all times. He makes some great cocktails too. The food was great too. The grounds are beautiful. I look forward to going back for yet another relaxed time away. Highly recommend them.

  Could be better

  I stayed here at sandalwood lodge during August , it has very nice facilities and the staff were very attentive to every need of ours . However some of the management not to name anyone seemed very racist and seemed to class there selves better than the customer . Which I think is not an ideal way to do business .

  Best Lodge in Harare, Zimbabwe

  My husband and I had a 25th anniversary coming up and couldnt leave town due to work commitments. So he surprised me with a short midweek romantic getaway to Sandalwood. Im still recovering from the short but faultless experience I had staying there. The rooms were decorated beautifully, the staff gave impeccable service from the reception staff to the wait staff; I was blown away. They had beautiful flowers and a congratulations card waiting for me and had arranged a candlelit, private dinner for my husband and I on our secluded patio. I read another reviewer mentioning racism... I dont know what race they are. We are a black couple and my husband has dreadlocks (hehe), but we did not see any hint of discrimination at any stage. The only issue I might mention was the breakfast sausages were not to my liking as they were flavored with something?. Minor complaint. But it had no impact on the rest of our stay. The French/Italian (?) lady who greeted us upon check-in offered an impeccable, professional service and couldnt do enough for us, and made sure we had everything we needed. The check out staff was also just as excellent and efficient. I travel a lot (before Covid) and never leave many reviews anymore, but Sandalwood deserves a mention as probably the best private lodge in Harare. I dont know why anyone visiting Zimbabwe would choose to stay in a high rise hotel over a place like this. As a local, I never get to experience many places in Harare and must say Sandalwood can stand its ground with any similar place Ive stayed in other parts of the world like Italy, Greece etc. Waaay better than UK and USA accommodation places in this category. Its evenly matched with the top South African lodges Ive stayed in, but without the weird feeling of danger and safety they have over there. Loved it. I HIGHLY recommend this place.
