Average Hotel in Super LocationThis is a friendly hotel opposite the citadel and easy walking distance to the tourist office, ferry terminal, historical sights. Staff are very helpful. Room reasonably spacious and very clean. Shower in bathtub very tight and hard not to wet the bathroom as there is only a partition in half the tub for easy cleaning. Good WIFI you need free tickets from reception to access. Note that the furthest rooms along the corridor dont seem to be able up access WIFI. My signal stopped right outside my door (room 228). I had to go to reception to use my laptop and wasnt the only one. Also note that the hotel is along a busy tight street with lots of restaurants and the noise drifts up even if your room is not tight along this street. Its not terrible, but there as background noise even with ear plugs. Breakfast is Euro 12. If you ask the hotel to call you a taxi, I recommend asking them to verify charge. My taxi driver charged me Euro 3 over the meter rate for the 6 minutes ride to the train station.

Perfect hotel to visit AjaccioThis mid sized hotel is in the perfect location, just off the port which is superb touristy. Hotel San Carlu is so very close to everything but on a quiet corner across from the Citadelle and a stones throw from the long path that goes along the water for a mile or two. It is also on the end of a street with tons of restaurants and a short walk to the farmers market and the main shopping street Rue Napoleon. Some of the other hotels of similar type were in the heart of the cruise ship strip and I was happy we were away from that and yet so close. The rooms were up to date. We chose two rooms for our family of 4 with two teenagers (age 16 and 18). One was less expensive on the inner side - it was typical European small but had a great newly updated bathroom and comfy double bed. The second was a family sized room with a queen and a twin bed as well as a small sitting area with a sofa and chair. No real view but lighter - bath was fine and spacious but not as up to date as the smaller room. Also, very key was there was great AC. Besides the location and the very comfortable rooms, we really liked the breakfast! It started at 6 am and had many choices of high quality - lots of local jams, fresh croissant, hard boiled eggs, meats and cheeses, local fresh baked breads, every drink possible from an industrial strength coffee maker and fruit. There was a lovely outdoor terrace to eat and watch Ajaccio come to life in the morning. Not sure how we got breakfast included, but we were really glad we had it. We liked the hotel so much we stayed again our last night before flying out in a family room that had 3 beds (1 double, twin and queen - no sitting area). It is only 3 km to the airport. I suggest asking the staff for recommendations - we found two lovely beaches that werent in any of our tour books thanks to the super helpful staff. Finally, we suggest parking in the large port parking lot if you cant find street parking - it is very cheap for over night (1.8 Euro), Sunday parking is free everywhere. Other times can add up (up to 15 Euro for a daytime stay).

Great experience in a difficult situation! We came to this hotel after a horrific trip over the mountain passes from Porto Vecchio by bus, during which my wife felt very sick. The hotel immediately and very professionally provided all the necessary services needed in this difficult situation. A very big thank you to all the staff, especially Melyssa and Mrs. Cathy, who did everything to provide medical and other assistance to improve our situation. We really appreciated all the help and kindness! Only the Wifi situation should be improved. Merci beaucoup! We highly recommend this hotel and will be back one day! Au devoir!

Average hotel in a strategic location with very friendly staffsArrived in the evening and welcomed by a very nice friendly receptionist, Sophie. She even gave us a room with the view of citadel! Room is average but on the smaller side. Bathtub/ shower was quite awkwardly positioned. Breakfast was good. But most importantly the staffs are very friendly, kind and informative. Great stay!
