  Great location and well-appointed room

  My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Samuel Durfee House very much. We stayed in the Perry Room, which had a private balcony. Even though the home is on a busy street, our room was very quiet. Each morning, they served us a delicious hot breakfast. The B&B is located within walking distance to shops, restaurants and mansions. We parked our car on arrival and never moved it the entire stay!

  First time to Newport RI

  This was our first time visiting Newport RI and based on reviews we decided to stay at the Samuel Durfee House Bed and Breakfast and we are so glad we did. From the time we checked in, owners Heather and husband Michael were wonderful. The Inn is quaint and extremely clean. The breakfast in the mornings were absolutely delicious. The afternoon snack of usually homemade cookies were also very yummy. Michael and Heather both gave of good tid bits on what to do and where to go. We couldnt have been more pleased with our stay st this Bed and Breakfast and will definitely stay there again.

  Old House Charm with New House Amenities

  This was our first time in Newport, RI and our first time in a B & B. I was happily surprised how much I enjoyed the B & B experience. I am sure it had a lot to do with our host and hostess. We stayed in the Doris Duke Suite. It was more than I expected, a beautiful spacious bedroom and sitting room as well as a large bathroom and a small half bath. We couldn't have asked for more. The best part was the delicious breakfast in the morning. We even had a choice of what we wanted to eat! I can't recommend this place enough.

  Comfort and Peace of Mind

  We are a couple who visited Newport in September to get away from the city, sail, eat fresh seafood and relax. Because of COVID we have been very anxious about visiting any indoor hotels, restaurants or shops. Michael and Heather do an excellent job keeping the Samuel Durfee house clean, sanitized and minimizing any unnecessary contacts. That gave my wife tremendous peace of mind. The stay was very comfortable - large four poster bed, bath amenities, snacks and drinks (hung on our room doorknob each afternoon), hot breakfasts which you could take in the room or at the dining table or outside, and limited capacity guests. It was like a great B&B stay with COVID aspects all taken very seriously. We would recommend this establishment to our friends. The location is perfect for us - one block from Thames Street and the noise - but close enough to still be very close to restaurants, ice cream and shops. It was convenient to walk back and drop off whatever we didnt want to carry. It is a few minutes from the Sail Newport marina and from the waterfront restaurants by car. I think we would return again the next time we visit Newport.

  As always, a very wonderful stay!

  My husband and I have stayed at The Samuel Durfee House many times but this is my first time writing a review. I have to say that I would not stay anywhere else if you want the experience of an inn. Heather and Michael are wonderful hosts and have always gone out of their way to accommodate us. We have stayed in two different rooms at The Samuel Durfee House and love them both for different reasons. The location is absolutely perfect, you can literally walk to everything. The bedding is wonderful, the inn is super clean and the breakfast is amazing.
