Last Samurai meets World Heritage ListUltra traditional island which is home to 3500 year old cedar pines and amazing cuisine. The locals have been diligent to ensure the experience is very traditional, English not spoken outside airport and hotel reception. This hotel is straight out of a James Bond movie

Great staff and good foodThe food both at breakfast and dinner was excellent. The room was comfy, clean, spacious and had good view out to sea. The reception staff were very helpful with everything from suggestions for trips and just being generally nice. The onsen and massage facilities were also very good. Getting to the hotel if not driving is relatively easy as there is a bus stop right outside that goes from Anbo port and around the outer island. Taxi fares soon rack up though if travelling right around the island although with good timing busses to the main sights are easily doable. Also with a 20 min stroll through quiet lanes from the hotel it is possible to get to some nice local coffee shops. Also a bakery very close to the hotel and a very small supermarket a 100 yards further on. It is also possible to walk straight out from the hotel into the mountains if you take the trail starting from Onaido hot spring.

Great views and great cuisine tooFrom outside the hotel could be viewed as spoiling the seaside site... of course inside is another story. Modern hotel with fantastic views for the seaside rooms try to avoid the mountain side because in front of the mountain a parking lots some pylons and one ugly building ! Very beautiful rooms large which is rare in Japan. There are the hot springs enjoy the sunset there. And if you decide to have dinner there there is nothing around you will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of the set menu. Very friendly personnel always ready to help even if the English language is not mastered WiFi a bit erratic !

THE scenic location to bed down on YakushimaWhether you just crossed Yakushima north to south or want to go on day trips around the island, this is an awesome place to rest. You start your day with an exquisit Japanese breakfast and finish it with a Kaiseki style dinner. Top it of with relaxing dip in the outside sea view onsen (also great at dawn) and your mind and body should be at rest. Staff is sharp and service excellent.

Impressive and one of the highlights of my tripI love this place. We booked a sea view room and there are no regrets. The service is excellent. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. The dinners were exquisite. The outdoor onsen is a bit small but the views are wonderful. I will definitely return. Yakushima is everything it promised it would be and this hotel is the cherry on top of the cake.
