  Great choice

  We had a great stay at Saltbush. Unfortunately with 5 in our party we had too many to fit in the stables or slab huts,(the photos don't actually do these justice by the way. In real life they are stunning!!!!!) but the cabins were basic but absolutely fine. We still had access to the pool, spy kangaroos about the property and the accomodation is in walking distance (depending on the heat) to the Hall of Fame and the Qantas Founders Museum. Both are must see. We caught the train to Longreach, and Saltbush happily met us at the train to pick us up, and as we were across the road from the airport, Avis happily dropped the hire car to our accomodation the next morning. Couldn't have been a more convenient start to our outback adventure.

  Great stay, Country hospitality.

  We had two nights in one of the cabins toward the front, it was perfect for what we wanted. Bec and Judy were excellent to deal with. The spot is perfect if you are visiting the Qantas Founders Museum. Its a well set up, nice setting and so much better than a motel room in town. Make sure to call/book direct to see if you can get a deal (e.g. like a brekky special)

  5 night break-away

  The wife and I decided to take the train to Longreach for a short break. We booked for 5 nights in a slab hut and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was all very friendly and Rebecca the receptionist was a wealth of useful information. The Hut (cabin) was furnished with quality furniture and linen and the bed was a blessing after the train. We ordered breakfast for our period of stay and the food supplied was of the best quality with a refill half way through our stay. We had a very relaxing stay and would recommend Saltbush Retreat as a 5 star break-away.

  RECOMMENDABLE

  We stayed in the timber cabins which were wonderful. Very comfortable bed, beautifully appointed and furnished, spotlessly clean and there was nothing missing that one would require. The attention to detail is apparent. Very helpful and friendly receptionist went to extra lengths to assist. Highly recommended!

  Cannot fault this place

  My husband and I stayed in a 'slab hut' accommodation type. Was so so rustic chic. Good facilities for self catering. Full size fridge and tea/coffee provided. Staff are friendly and helpful. Longreach itself is a very friendly town. Everyone we met in the street said hello and Staff at shops had a long chat. Beautifully kitted out cabin. Very clean. Shower was fantastic particularly after long plane trip. Approximately 2.5k trip to centre of town. Took about 20 minutes on flat footpath. Close to airport and good restaurants. Outdoor baths were unique and fun. Definitely stay here again if we in the area.
