A Devon DelightMy friend and I enjoyed a wonderful few days at the Harbour Hotel in Salcombe recently. What a true delight this hotel is and set in such a stunning location, the views of the estuary from the bedrooms, bar and restaurant are breathtaking. We loved the interior design and how it complemented the hotels surroundings. Our room was fresh and inviting, the bed linen to die for it was so soft. Special touches in the room included a box containing a pair of binoculars to explore the far reaching views and decanters with complementary Sherry and Gin with mixers in the fridge supplied as well as a small bottle of milk which was changed daily for the tea, coffee and hot chocolate. We dined in the restaurant, the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, the staff very attentive and helpful when choosing from the menu. The food was delicious and presented beautifully on individually designed crockery. The spa is a real must when visiting this hotel. Subdued lighting creates a lovely feeling of relaxation. Thank you to all the staff for the welcome they gave us and for all their hard work in making our visit complete.

A disappointing stay! The location of this hotel is very difficult to get to as the roads are more like pathways, the parking is awful and small. On arrived as I walked into the reception I got shouted out because I did not have a mask on, very welcoming!! The room was very expensive and although the deco was pretty, the bed was so soft and uncomfortable to the extent that I slept in a chair. Paid £15.00 for a Caesar salad in the bar, it was just a dish of lettuce with some lumps of what tasted like spam at the bottom, it was disgusting and a waste of money and I ended up leaving it! Walked to the small town area and to be honest I really don't know what people rave about, there was not much choice of restaurants and shops, just a few overpriced tacky clothes and some extremely unpolite female shop owners! St Ives is so much better and the people are friendly and welcoming to tourists!!

Lovely break awaySpent 3 days here for a birthday treat. The staff were so lovely from the minute we walked in the door. COVID precautions in place didnt stop us drinking as drinks were swiftly delivered to our room, even in busy service hours! Special shout out to Liam and head chef who provided the recipe for their delicious starter. We enjoyed excellent massages in the spa thanks to Sylvia. There was definitely room for improvement during breakfast service. Both days we were left without drinks until we had almost finished our food. Getting hot water from the bath was also a bit tricky but once you learnt the secret of letting the water run for 10mins before you put the plug in all problems were solved!

Perfect for my baby and I.My baby and I stayed here for his first birthday for two nights. The staff were all so friendly and helpful upon arrival. They had put a balloon and birthday card in our room which was a thoughtful touch. There was a good standard travel cot and comfy mattress in the room, and the balcony served as a wonderful play area, when the weather was poor. There are two times during the day when babies/toddlers are allowed in the pool area. Both times there were hardly anyone else present, so we could relax and splash around to our hearts' content. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of room even with a highchair. The opening times are perfect for those with children as breakfast starts early and dinner is from 5pm. When I ran out of full-fat milk, one of the waiters even offered to go to the shop and fetch me some, which was very kind. A lovely little Devon trip for us - thank-you.

Service was perfectWe visited for my partners birthday and graduation (she is now a Doctor) treat and we werent (overall) disappointed. The breakfast service frustrated me as it was incredibly slow (two days running) but I dont feel its right to reduce the stars for this review because the overall experience and custom service we received was excellent. The team couldnt do enough for us and everything felt clean and safe. The food was beautiful and the Head Chef was kind enough to email me a recipe! Loved this and I have enormous respect for the entire team working through a very difficult period. Thank you Liam especially who made us feel particularly welcome.
