  Comfy, clean and beautiful

  If you want a true Japanese immersive experience with a very warm welcoming service, you really have to stay here. The hot springs are very big and clean. The dinners were delicious. The service depends on who is serving, but the worst one can easily put any 4-star Hotel in the town to shame. Consider the price, this is a hotel very worth visiting. There are also a lot to look and see nearby. If you love the nature and hiking, I truly recommend this place for a change.

  Excellent experience at Sakan

  Situated in Akiu onsen resort, about 40 minutes away from Sendai. We took a free shuttle from Sendai Station East Exit where various onsen buses pick up their customers. The pick up service has to be pre-booked in advance. The hotel has a thousand-year history but has a modern touch. Upon arrival we were greeted with traditional Japanese hospitality of warm welcome and tea. Mr Saitoh who checked us in explained everything in perfect English. The hotel is huge and divided into 3 blocks with 172 rooms. There are several onsen baths but we only went to two outdoor baths by the river. Lush greenery surrounded the hotel but we didnt have a chance to take a stroll as it was raining non-stop due to typhoon Lan. Our room was spacious and very clean. The futons bedding was comfortable. The Kaiseki dinner is the highlight of our onsen stay. Everything was beautifully presented and most delicious. Buffet breakfast was equally amazing with a mixed of Japanese and western food. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly. If you are in Akiu, do not miss out this place.

  The day trip of onsen + lunch is special experience!

  This is a lovely hotel with a long history. The day trip of onsen + bento lunch, 2500Y/person, is a most refreshing experience. No other visitor was with me on the day of my visit, and it was such a pleasure to bathe in the (public) spring water pools alone. The outdoor pool with a view of the autumn leaves was a special treat! Lunch, a generous selection of tradiitional Japanese dishes that matched the season, was served in one of the hotel restaurants, and came in a porcelain bento. The hotel offers shuttle service to select points of destination; on this particular day, we requested to be dropped off at nearby Akiu Winery, for which we are grateful.

  1. Clean and Spacious room 2. Delicious food 3. Staff can communicate well in English 4. Towels are prepared in a basket inside the closet for public bath. 5. Friendly staff 6. Beautiful architecture and well preserved. 7. Kimono and slippers are prepared for everyone to wear in the hotel.

  Wi-fiNetflix 2150,000 I...

  Wi-fiNetflix 2150,000 I stayed there with a friend and for my first ryokan experience I was disappointed! The WiFi was so slow it didnt allow me to stream Netflix. The AC was not working properly! It was cooler outside than in he room! They had to bring a fan... as for the hot baths, they were simply hot! Not cool bath to chill off after soaking in hot water :-( its not worth the 50,000 ¥ we paid!
