    Oasis de relax

Ya es la segunda vez que nos alojamos en este hotel y la tercera esta al caer. Situación idílica en el bonito paseo a la orilla del Mosel. Rodeado por viñedos que se reflejan en el río. A solo 22 kms.

    Perfectly nice, cozy

Stayed two nights recently. This is a very nice small town hotel with above-average amenities. There are reduced rate dinners for guests (30 euros per plate) and access to a well appointed spa (albeit deserted most of the time, but there are towels provided contrary to earlier reviews). Now, one shouldnt expect a 100+ year old hotel to be as modern as a recently built hotel in Chicago...er...well maybe Kansas City is a better example. But the recent-ish updates bring each room to a cruise ship type quality, with everything you might need at your fingertips. I must say that the biggest negative about the room (not counting the television with a smaller screen than my desktop computer) is the transparent bathroom door. I was traveling with my teenage son...who walked from the 3rd floor to the basement to use the restroom rather than go in front of his parent...and to the spa to shower in privacy. Pros: - near many restaurants (they are a bit tourist priced) - cozy - pleasant and helpful staff - clean rooms - comfortable bed (I was tempted to buy the pillow I was using!) - very nice breakfast, with attentive and smiling staff - near things to do (i.e. boat tours) Cons: - street noise (busy area, not the hotels fault) - transparent WC door (maybe add an optional curtain?) - small television - while a glass of wine is mentioned in adverts for arriving guests, I was not offered one. This is a bit of a big deal as the best hotels I have EVER stayed at often did this and it is very welcoming...when it happens. - Safe did not work, worse it kept cycling throughout the night making a whining noise while opening and closing for hours. This was reported so hopefully all of the room safes will be checked soon since Im not the first to comment on this. A word of advice, while the street and water view is quite nice, the balconies below us ensured we had a steady flow of cigarette and marijuana smoke wafting through our room much of the night. One might take this into account when choosing a room. Would I stay again, yes at a lower rate. Even though I think the hotel is quite nice, I paid too much considering the cons I experienced. If you are one to not be bothered by the things I mentioned I am CERTAIN youll enjoy this local, historic hotel.

Horribly outdated, far from clean, not the 4**** they pretend to be

I had made reservations for 2 nights and enjoy a nice weekend of spa treatments. Worst choice I ever made. Rooms and hotel are very outdated. Lots of stuff that wasn't repaired. But worst off all it was far from clean!!!!! Stains everywhere. Windows haven't been cleaned for years!! You have the pleasure of a whirlpool in your own bathroom...but if you see the cleannes of it all you are afraid to go into the wellness part, believe me...... So we left stait away after seeing the room!!! A nice wellness weekend, down the drain. The hotel was disappointing and the insensitivity of the owner about our complaints even more so...... In short: outdated, very unclean, lots of repairs not executed. Far from a 4 star hotel. Don't get mislead by the beautiful pictures, better read the reveiws on multiple sites.

    Long visit - Beautiful Views

Okay, so I twisted the truth about when I visited here, but it does not effect my review. A few years ago I was working on a project for duPont and stayed at the St. Nicolas for 7 months Feb - August. Obviously I got to know everyone very well and the accommodations and service were top notch!! I was given the room with access to the outside veranda, which afforded some great views of the Moselle River. Oh, don't forget to check out the restaurant!!

Overall good despite a couple of problems

Nice location overlooking the river Moselle and close to town. Very friendly staff and amazing waiter for dinner. Good value 3 course set dinner and nice choice of wines. Breakfast okay but not special. Superior room okay though not very large. Lack of hot water in the morning and no plug in spa bath but items were sorted after telling reception. Pool, sauna and spa area nice and makes it a bit of a special place to stay. Parking on street but only free for 2 hours during the day if you have a blue parking disc.
