    Warm welcome and very comfortable rooms

    The room was spotless, smart and very comfortable. Lovely spacious bathroom, great central location and warm welcome from Matt who was extremely helpful. Delicious vegan breakfast. Would recommend highly!

    Can I just say what an amazing time we had soux our barmaid was brilliant cocktails to die for and a great host and a great place to stay as well the rooms are very spacious a must on your list to check out big thanks to all at the saffron suite and kitchen

    Average Hotel

    Situated in a good location the hotel was reasonable comfortable for the one night we stayed. The room interior was much better than the first impression, walking upstairs. Although we were happy with the room, it was situated at the front of the hotel and just too noisy; suggest double glazing!

    Below expectations

    Accommodation is limited in Saffron Walden so selecting The Saffron Walden for two nights. We arrived 2:45pm on Friday having driven 200 miles from the North to find the hotel closed with a note on the door saying to check in , phone a number which we did a couple of times no response then I received a call back. I noticed later that I had been sent an email at 1pm regarding the check in process very useful when I was driving, why not at the time I booked. Very limited contact with anyone in fact we did not see anyone during our two night stay. Rooms boutique style yes big comfortable bed, lots of mirror type furniture, old sash windows we could not open with dead insects behind the slatted blind. shower was very difficult to get the temperature right. In view of Covid we did not expect to have the room serviced but it was sort of , bed turned down. Didn't want it. Breakfast COVID bag on the door handle with juice fruit and biscuit plus croissant in plastic wrappers. Will we stay here again No.

    Spotless rooms but ...

    We booked TWO nights B&B accepting that there were limited services with a packed breakfast. The limited services were acceptable to us. What was NOT acceptable was the fact that we received a breakfast on the first morning only and nothing on the second morning. When we gave Booking.com our feedback we received an email from the hotel saying we should have said something to staff at the time. What staff? There was no-one about and when I phoned the number given I got a recorded message asking me to leave a message and as yet we have received no response to that call. We left that morning so they probably couldn't have cared less. What was done was done, they'd had our money after all. Job done! The email also said we had booked 'room only' for the second night. Excuse me? We paid the same price for both nights so how did they come to that conclusion? We were also cold, and were told via the same email that we should have said something at the time. As the hotel is centrally heated with radiators we didn't think to ask for an extra heater as suggested, this is the year 2020 after all. I responded to their email with my explanation of my complaints but as yet have received no response. We can only assume that the hotel is quite happy to take your money for unrendered services. I had hoped for some kind of refund for the unreceived breakfast. How wrong can you be? When they said 'limited services' they were at least honest in that respect. Thanks for reading.
