  Traditional Japanese Hotel

  We had a luxury traditional Japanese experience at Ryotei Rangetsu. It is conveniently located near all the main tourist attractions. The hotel is next to the river and has a great view of the mountain. Everyone in the hotel was excellent, especially our host. She carefully prepares all our meals in our room and gave us lots of useful information. She and another host also prepares our beds on the tatami floor and every meal is served inside our room. Food is excellent and service is great. We had a great experience and would highly recommend staying here. Thanks for the hospitality!

  Incredible Experience

  This your definitely not your typical hotel. Contrary to many other Japanese hotels, the rooms are quite large, even for American standards. It is the perfect place to experience first hand traditional living in Japan. The staff is incredibly welcoming and handy and the facility is equipped to the highest standards.

  Excellent Stay! Expensive

  This was really an luxury ryokan experience. We stayed only one night there. A package of room with an private open-air bath plus breakfast and dinner. The room is spacious and clean. Services is great. Since it was hot in the afternoon, they serve both hot tea and cold tea. We had breakfast and dinner at another private room which has a beautiful Japanese style garden view. The food were beautiful and delicious.

  Luxurious onsen hotel on Katsua River

  Gorgeous view of the autumn colours of Arashiyama's hills and Katsura river from our tatami-mat room. Staff are attentive and kaiseki dinner and breakfast are served personally in your room. Despite being fully booked, the onsen was always quiet and often times empty. Kaiseki dinner is delicious and prepared with the freshest ingredients. It is also a stone's throw away from the famous % Arabica coffee joint and a short walk to the bamboo grove and Tenryuji temple. We would highly recommend this ryokan to anyone looking to stay in Arashiyama. Be sure to book in advance!

  Lovely traditional experience

  we really wanted to stay in a Ryokan, and this was the perfect fir for us. The room was very large, and had a balcony that looked down into the beautiful garden. The bathroom was new, and very clean. We enjoyed putting on the robes and slippers and really realxing in the room. The staff were great as they came and made out bed for us and always tried to accomodate us. We loved the breakfast. It was very traditional and very generous. Overall, we really enjoyed this traditional experience.
