SuleenI booked 2nights for the maisonette with semi outdoor air bath while few days before my arrival I did emailed Yado Matsubaya and Relux that I would like to extend one more night. However, to no respond till the day I arrived the ladies at the reception unable to speak English. Hence we communicated through google translate. I managed to extend my stay however there will be changed of room. I was a room with indoor ensuite onsen which I dont mind. I was not satisfied that I was charged the same price as my maisonette. The room was so much smaller with lousy view and no privacy. I have to brought down the night blind as the top floor is able to watch my room from their balcony. Nevertheless, I am pleased with the maisonette which have balcony on each floor. The living room have high ceiling and a Japanese style sitting area which is spacious and clean. I did enjoyed my 2days living in this luxury room but not the extended day which I paid the same price. Meal was Japanese breakfast and dinner were delicious, authentic and pleased to the eyes too. The service at the restaurant was great though most of the staff unable to speak English except for Takeshi and Arafat from Bangladesh . Well I must say Takeshi and Shinzo have been helpful throughout my stay. Ultimately, I must say its a pleasant stay for me as the facilities in the is place were well kept and hygienic. Amenities provided in the room and communal onsen were more than ample.

Peaceful and friendly ryokan hotel with amazing foodMatsubaya has such welcoming staff it feels like being with family. It has a public bath (Onsen), one for women and one for men. It also has four "family" baths which you can share with your partner, etc. Each one is different, from fully outside to fully inside. The fully outside one is delightful. Another one has an infinity style pool looking out over the city to wards the ocean. We stayed in the Japanese style rooms where the price includes breakfast and dinner. While both are Japanese, the food is magnificent. The dinner has many small dishes including wagu beef, local fish, etc. We were even shown how to best enjoy a local fish using the pate like liver to make a lovely soup with ginger and eat the other small portions provided. This is a local speciality and not to be missed. We did not need lunch on any day! We stayed for three nights and a different menu was offered each night.
