    Amazing

This was our first stay in a ryokan and it was amazing. The staff are very attentive and friendly. We stayed for 2 nights and had dinner and breakfast included. The food was delicious and we tried many new dishes from Hida and were served dinner in our room both nights. The ryokan provide a bus to get into town to the markets and also picked us up from the station - Takayama is a beautiful town and the shopping was amazing. Overall an excellent Japanese experience.

    Amazing hospitality

We recently spent three nights here. We were apprehensive about the reviews. Yes it is about 5 minutes by vehicle from town but the establishment runs a shuttle service. Our room was huge with a small sitting room. The woman who runs the place is phenomenal. Nothing is too much trouble and great care is taken with the food offerings. Our evening meal was served in the room and for the first time ever in Japan I felt a bit over fed ,. So have a light lunch. The courtesies extended by all the staff was beyond reproach. The futon arrangements set up for us before bedtime were amazingly comfortable. The place is a little tired in parts but as an authentic experience we would highly recommend it. My only mild criticism is that wifi is only available in the foyer

    Wonderful experience

We spent the night in this so well run japanese hotel. There were many surprises! We had a splendid dinner served in our own room! So many little dishes, delicious. Then our room was made to a bedroom. We slept well and were again welcomed with a lovely brekfast in the brekfast room this time. The staff is so amiable.

Amazing Ryokan, a traditional experience I would highly recommend!

The staff here are wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The place gave us a great experience of japanese culture, including the traditional rooms and the excellent meals. I would highly recommend the onsen outside as it very relaxing and beautiful at night. I would also recommend the morning markets that they drop you at for free, as they showcase so much of japanese culture and cuisine. We were lucky enough to meet some school kids a the markets and the bus stations who are curious to find out where you are from and communicate with you. It made our experience extra special

Authentic Japanese boarding house. Very obliging

We stayed two nights here and the owners were so accommodating, providing us with shuttle buses and making bookings where we needed. The breakfast was a traditional authentic fancy Japanese affair, and it was lovely. We felt that we were honoured guests rather than clients. Authentic Japanese onsen available, A fair way from the train Station, about 1,000 yen by Cab. Once there they did not hesitate to get the bus out and shuttle us around. Close to a laundromat as we needed to wash. A bit quirky, but well worth a visit.
