    A Wonderful Surprise

We booked this hotel in the spur of the moment with little research and just for one night. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel. The service on arrival was excellent. We hadn't read our email where they offered to pick us up so we had walked up. It is a good exercise getting up the hill to the hotel but definitely worth it for the spectacular view. We stayed in a Japanese room which was very comfortable. The dinner included in the room fee was an absolute delight. Delicate and perfectly balanced flavors beautifully presented to a backdrop of a view to the volcano and cherry blossom in the garden. I have visited many hotels in Asia during our time here. This ranks among the absolute finest. It is small and intimate with excellent Japanese food. I would probably not take my kids here, other than that I can't really fault it!

Excellent facilities with the wild deer a big plus!

Easy to find the hotel. We booked with dinner and breakfast. Both were decent enough food. We had a booking of a private onsen (you should pre-book) within the hotel, and whilst trying to change it to an outdoor onsen we were given two private onsen slots! Enjoyed both greatly. Saw the deer roaming around the grounds too which the kids enjoyed. We also trekked to see the waterfalls, which can be accessed near the outdoor onsen. Worth the trek too!

    Beauty and tranquility

We had a relaxing night at this wonderful atmospheric Onsen hotel. Everything staff, food, grounds and onsen were magical. Although we were the only non Asian guests we felt very comfortable and welcome. Book a private outdoor night onsen in the forest. The deers May visit.

Best view but room isnt v.clean

Its high on the hill that caught the best view with best clarity of Sakurajima (the volcano) at daybreak! Its absolutely exhilarating especially you grab a coffee at the balcony in the morning. Yet the bedsheets are not that clean that got bed mites or some kind of bugs bite on my legs which are so itchy that last for four days! Plus I have allergic rhinitis so Im kind of dust-detector. This hotel gave me the most serious allergic reaction in the morning in Japan! Running & super stuffy nose is definitely not the first you want to enjoy at daybreak. The food was ok, bathrooms were ok but a bit worn out. Overall, its a budget hotel with best mountain view. Worth a try but wont go again.

    Onsen in the forest

I booked a Japenese style room for one night. It faces the Sakurajima and the view is good. Meals are good but nothing special. Ladies can choose Yukata at the lobby and the one for men is placed in the room. I couldn't book the , the most popular onsen even three weeks before my stay. I then booked the in the evening. I have a chance to take a look at the and found that the environment of these two have no big difference except has a very short fence in front of the onsen. They are next to each other. There is a short walk that take around 30 minutes (to and return)to a water fall. Definitely not suitable for elderlies and kids as the path is steep in some parts. It is enjoyable as you are just like walking through a forest. There are two public indoor and one outdoor onsen. The view is great. I went there at around 7:45am and I was so lucky that no one was using the outdoor one. I enjoyed for 10 minutes and more people came after 8:00am. Nearly eight of us in the onsen area. Overall, I have a great stay.
