Nice Soba Pork SoupI ate lunch here on day two of my ski holiday, it is located below the Nagasaka Gondola and it was a well run restaurant. It busy the night we dined and the front of house staff were friendly and very helpful. I had there Soba Pork Soup main and beer. The dish was good, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to all.

Great locationSimple but comfortable Japanese-style lodging just a few steps from the gondola. There was no common area, so as we were travelling with a group we all tended to squeeze into one room to chat at the end of the day, which was very cosy! Shared toilets and big communal baths (lovely!) which were only available at certain hours (annoying). Breakfast is included and always had a mix of dishes so everyone found something they liked. I thought this was excellent value for the price and the location couldn't have been better!

Authentic Japanese experienceMy family had a wonderful time at Kawahiro. Rooms were very comfortable. Food was awesome, authentic Japanese! The staff were very warm and accommodating to us. Best location, very near Nagasaka gondola.

Great location but nothing elseLocation was great for skiing. However: * they only provide one very flat mattress, it is so hard we could hardly sleep. This is not normal Japanese experience, we normally use two mattresses to sleep comfortably on tatami. * the room had a gas heater which we were not comfortable having it on all night. The room got freezing cold during the night, in the morning it was 9 degrees! * when I checked in, I was told to go upstairs to collect the key, then had to come downstairs to pickup my luggages, nobody offered any help so I had to go three stairs several times to bring my luggages to the room. Later on, when a family from overseas checked in, there were three staff helping them with everything!! Btw, I am Japanese and I felt discriminated.

Traditional - and on ski fieldBasic accommodation but right at the base of the main gondola. Rooms are four walls with outlook; but nothing special. Average. Traditional bedding. Very busy when we stayed - which wasnt ideal with the thin walls and shared bathroom facilities. Onsen was busy too; but heaps of cool alternatives to frequent in close proximity. Breakfast was good but served on the dot of 7:30. Advise be at the table 7:15 if you like your eggs hot. Drying was good. Easy access to and from mountain. Its a bit of a hike from the bus drop off in town.
