Terrible dinner experience but fun place to go outFirst off: Our group paid a ridiculous amount for a prefix dinner and the dinner took 3 hours... It's as if the staff and kitchen kept forgetting our food since it would take 45 min-1 hour for each course to come while every other table was getting their meals every 20. We also paid for two drinks with our prefix dinner and we weren't offered drinks until the main course arrived (2 hours in!). The waitress also told us we could get two drinks per person, then later in the dinner said we could only get a punch bowl and that "she made a mistake by telling us the original." Hun, you were serving other tables the entire night: You didn't make a mistake- you were just trying to make things difficult for us. Oh, and I also forgot to mention we were seated 30 minutes later than our reservation started. Basically, only come here to go out and NOT dinner. If you're just here to drink then you'll have a good time. And if you do make a dinner res just to get in, don't expect good service.

Terrific Place for an EventWe held a family celebration dinner that turned out even better than we expected. The place is wonderful both inside and out...the food was absolutely delicious...and the people who work there could not have been nicer or more helpful. All the arrangements were made in advance over the phone and by e-mail and they were so easy and efficient...and all went off without a single glitch. The inside has been updated and is quite interesting with a lot of natural wood. It's beautiful! They far exceeded our expectations.

Extremely disappointingI do believe this is the first bad review I've ever written of a place, and I'm sad to say it! But our experience staying here for the weekend was so disappointing that I feel compelled to share and hope that anyone considering a weekend here will go elsewhere. Friends and I had dined at Ruschmeyer's over the past few years and very much enjoyed the nightlife and dancing, so we thought it would be nice to spend a whole weekend here. The prices were a bit steep for us but we splurged because we determined it was worth it in order to be staying at the place where we loved to come in the evenings and at night to socialize and dance, which Ruschmeyer's is known for. We booked our room 10 months in advance of our stay, and continued to look forward to it. When we checked in we learned that the entire rest of the hotel had booked out for the entire weekend for a wedding. We thought we would make the best of it, but until Saturday the hotel, bar, and other areas were basically empty as the hotel prepared for the wedding. It became quite awkward as it was made clear to us over the course of the weekend that most of the hotel was completely off limits to us due to wedding preparations and/or festivities, and that none of the reasons we had booked Rushmeyer's in the first place applied to the weekend we stayed. When we asked why we weren't permitted to walk around our own hotel because of a wedding booking we'd never been informed of, a satisfactory answer was never given. We understand that they host weddings, but considering how small the space and the hotel is it was very disappointing that the hotel never reached out to us during the ten months before our stay to tell us that a wedding group had booked the rest of the hotel for the weekend, nor did they offer us an option to switch weekends or any other kind of appeasement. As far as I'm aware this is a standard practice when someone books out an entire hotel, particularly a small one, for a single function, and there are one or two unlucky rooms with pre-existing bookings. Furthermore, the staff were so completely taken up with the wedding (with the exception of 1 very kind bartender) that they were unresponsive to our needs, questions, and very difficult to find in general. When we checked out we informed the woman at the front desk that we'd been disappointed with our stay due to these reasons. She assured us that our feedback mattered and that the manager would reach out. This never happened. I suppose this speaks most loudly of all.

Wonderful vibe!Though I understand that Ruschmeyer's is much more of a "scene" during the high-season, we found it to be wonderfully relaxed and comfortable for a mid-September weekend. Rooms are small but comfortable. Staff is cheerful and helpful. Dogs are welcome. Complementary breakfast is served outside at picnic tables. A hundred paper lanterns up in huge trees make the evening magical.
