  Spacious, Well Kitted Out and Clean

  Stayed here with friends for 6 nights. Great welcome from the hosts and a beautiful gift basket on arrival. We were upgraded to the Platinum Villa - nice one! Right on the beach and quite private. The villa is well equipped with all that you will need for great holiday enjoyment. Good breakfasts were delivered daily. Very nice! A cool little coffee caravan was sited across the road too so we had all the much needed trappings close by! Great spa and plunge pool in the villa that we well used too. On the downside? Well, the villa really is quite dated, the beach is rocky (we had to travel down the road to go swimming) and there is a bit of a smell emanating from what I think is a septic tank on site? Anyway, we relaxed here - I had great sleeps. Would I stay here again? Hmm, possibly. Again, great hosts, good servicing of the rooms and an overall nice place but I think I would look to Bora Bora for my next holiday.

  Beautiful villa

  We stayed in villa 5, which is set back from the beach but there is still a view from the sitting/TV room. However, it did offer a bit more privacy by not sharing any interior walls with other villas. They welcomed us with leis at the airport. A few snacks were available in the villa upon arrival along with champagne, beer, soda and milk the fridge. The kitchen is well stocked with supplies as well as oil, salt and pepper for cooking. The breakfast is substantial. They were able to easily accommodate our dietary restrictions (vegan). The villa itself is gorgeous with a private pool. The beds are very comfortable. The staff is so friendly and helpful and assisted with all of our reservations as well as renting e-bikes for our weeklong stay. We liked the location. There are several restaurants nearby and we were able to bike to the rest of the island as desired. We also went to the spa twice. The massages were amazing.

  Busy Doing Nothing!

  A late-in-the-day decision to do something different on Xmas day had us playing the date line game and experiencing seasonal cheer - twice. We were of course gazumped by a couple of enroute fellow travellers who managed three date line crossings it doesnt do to boast! The decision to make Rarotonga our holiday destination, albeit at the last minute was easy, since it has become a familiar and stress free routine. No early morning call, fifteen minute traffic free ride to Dunedin airport, direct flight to Auckland, short walk from domestic arrivals to the Airport Hotel, relaxed meal and comfortably quiet overnight stay; plus the icing on the cake a two minute walk to International departures in the morning. We also had the confidence that comes with familiarity on overseas trips and no currency snakes and ladders games. So where to stay and what to do? Accommodation on Raro has become a no brainer from our perspective and we know our routine would involve being greeted at the airport by the widest smile and most infectious laugh in the Pacific. A short ride with Jone to the supermarket on the way for essential supplies of limes and tonic and then to Muri and our luxury pancake paradise home Rumours! Rumours is to be experienced. We never fail to gasp when we open the door from the courtyard to confront the palate of blue hues that are framed by the lagoon. This time we were privileged to meet the owners Tara and Matthew and their equally charming daughter Tayla. Obligatory hugs with the staff complement the charm and unfettered luxury of the villas. Jone, Toni, Mila, Victor, Myrna and Sharon are all warm and caring stars. If you want to be totally spoiled rotten try the hot stone massages at the spa. But what to do you ask? Plenty of Trip Advisor reviews by way of answer, and there are now excellent facilities that are minutes away from Rumours doorstep, including: top caffeine fix, well stocked supermarket with many familiar NZ brands, bike and car hire, bakery, three restaurants and a liquor outlet. No great hike up on prices and good eats aplenty. Down the beach, try Charlies for a fresh fish sandwich (NZ $12) that serves two! For fine dining and views, Antipodes is outstanding by international standards. Oh and the fresh fish sizzler at the Pacific Resort is a must. Add in Tamarind House and Little Polynesia, burgers and pizzas and all else and you are spoiled for choice, or simply ask Tara or Tayla for their favourites! Apart from the weekend market and a raft of tourist activities, Autataki is must. Most highly recommended however is removing your watch and taking as many moments as you can to squeeze in all the luxuries the intimate Rumours boutique complex has to offer. Our days were gloriously unplanned, but we readily filled them being really really busy yip, doing nothing!

  Rumours are true !!

  Wanted to celebrate a surprise birthday for my husband, I have heard Rumoursin Rarotonga can accommodate everything....... and more!!!! The villas are beautiful, well appointed( the coffee machine is one of a kind ,in a nice way!), the view of the lagoon & ocean is outstanding. Thanks again to Tara and the rest of the team for their effort about the cake, champagne, flowers. Definitely will be back and spread only good rumours All the best, Vivian&Gabriel

  Even better than advertised!

  My fiancee and I just returned from 13 days at Rumours and can not think of enough great things to say about the accommodations, staff and location! We stayed in villa 5 and had an amazing time, the pool and courtyard were great for relaxing, spending time tanning in the sun and cooling off when we needed. The bedrooms were always clean and very comfortable, the kitchen and living room were perfect for relaxing at night and cooking our breakfast and occasional dinner. The breakfast was always delivered right at the beginning of our requested timeframe so we were never waiting around and it was always fresh and delicious especially the fruit and juices! The staff were all so friendly and helpful, from our airport pickup by John he had us laughing and pointing out everywhere we should try to visit and where certain restaurants were that we were interested in. Tara and Tayla answered all our questions and took the time to book and plan our outings for us and always greeting us warmly. The employees were always kind, welcoming, kept our villa wonderfully clean and stocked and always had a second to talk. It was even better than we had hoped from reading all of the other great reviews. Having the ocean about 30 steps outside our back door was great for watching the waves, kayaking and seeing the great lagoon. The privacy was amazing as well, other than the odd parking area passing we would forget that there were others around as we felt we were in our own world. I cannot recommend it enough for anyone really wanting an amazing vacation in Rarotonga, we are sure to return for another amazing experience. -Tim and Jade
