Old school charm and old school high standardsMy family and I have just come back from a brief one night stay at the hotel. The hotel is right on the sea front and has uninterrupted views of the beach. Queen Victoria once stayed at the hotel and it has her signature preserved in a guest book in the reception. The hotel itself is full of wonderful old school Victorian charm and style. The building still has lots of its original features and the old fashioned vibe has been maintained. The staff were very polite and attentive, particularly at check-in, and this was much appreciated. The room was clean and comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the bar and restaurant. The restaurant served a full a la carte high standard dinner even on a quiet Sunday evening. We shall certainly come again.

A proper English seaside hotelI really enjoyed my stay. This hotel has lots of character, which seems to be missing from most hotels these days. Whilst some may feel the hotel needs a make-over, I really hope it does not! The building is very special and unique and has lots of history and the positioning is perfect. This is a proper English seaside hotel, from the characterful staff to the mismatched interiors. My only criticism, was that the food could have been better. I had a three course dinner and breakfast, so got to experience the hotels cooking. I found my main course a bit inedible and greasy and my breakfast was two steaming danish pastries straight from the microwave. However, the experience of dining in a nearly empty, old ballroom, with loud piano music playing and watching the storm outside explode was a memorable one.

Splendid Royal Victoria HastingsJust back from a lovely relaxing 2 night stay in in Hastings at the Royal Victoria Hotel. I booked over the phone with the fabulous Liz in reception. Such a warm friendly person who's telephone manner was a smile. Liz put us in the lovely suite number 214 complete with a stunning sea view and spiral staircase. We had a dinner bed and breakfast package and must say we really enjoyed the food so well cooked and the hotel offers an excellent package. All staff were courteous and very helpful. The hotel was really clean and Covid safe. There is free parking in and around the hotel. It has a faded grandeur that we really liked. A short work to Hastings and the old town along the sea front. Thanks Liz and all the staff. Stay here beds are super comfy and it's so relaxing. If you have a sea view you fall asleep to sounds of the sea waves. Colin and Steve

Very PleasantThe hotel is quite old fashioned and dated, but that adds to the charm! Its quite peaceful at the hotel. The sea views are amazing! We stayed in a suite. It costs £10 more than a standard room, so was worth it. The wind blew against the window causing crashing noises all night. There was also a breeze coming in from the window as they didnt seem to close completely. But even in the middle of December- it wasnt too bad. The ceilings are impressively high and quite stately. We found a few stray hairs on the pillows, but everything else seemed quite clean- especially the bathroom. The amenities were good; coffee, tea, kettle, shampoos and hair dryers. Theres a iron and ironing board available on request. Staff were pleasant. They agreed for us to have an hour later check out (thank you). Parking was fine. We parked outside for free. Theres some spaces around the corner where you can park too. The hotel told me that if theres no parking available, guests at the hotel could park in the nearby beach car park for a reduced rate of around £3 a day. We walked to the old town area- it took about 30 minutes (leisurely paced).
