Fantastic hotelI stayed here with my family, and I have to say that the service of the staff was the best I have ever received anywhere! They were so attentive to all of our needs- no request was too difficult for them and they were very prompt and friendly in their service. Not only that but the food was amazing- so fresh and you really get a taste of the local cuisine! The hotel rooms themselves are very clean and comfortable, with amazing views of the beach. Thank you so much!

DAYOUT WITH OFFICE COLLEAGUESNice and calm place to relax and spend the day. Not much crowdes. They have 02 swimming pools. Good foods and friendly service. Clean and tidy rooms. Ample parking. Not sure about in-room facilities since we went for a day outing. Price is reasonable. Recommended to have a day outing.

It was the worstNot only did the train almost go trough the hotel, making everything shake and making it really hard to sleep, but the room was also a mess. Dirty towels and bedsheets, small and rockhard bed, rats in the eating area, looks like the place hasnt been touched since 1950. We booked for 3 nights but ended up leaving after the first which was also a problem and the owner didnt want to give our money back. WiFi was only in the lobby. And the food was cheap but not that great. Not a place to recommend.

Check the Review Dates!I booked this on the basis of the price, reviews and it seemed a great find. It has clearly been a wonderful little hotel in the past. Until this mornings experiences it was going to get an over-generous 3. Good bits: the room was great, large comfy bed and a huge bathroom with the biggest toilet Ive ever seen! Soap but no shampoo. A lovely veranda with comfy chairs and a view of the ocean and one of the pools. Small fridge and masses of sockets, both types, uk and round plug. The grounds are nice with two small pools and plenty of sun beds and tables (but they didnt need many!) so big thumbs up for the room hence the 2 stars. However, the bathroom door was askew and the entry door had a 2-3 cm gap all around it, what looks like an axe had been used to try break in so a slash in the flimsy plywood door. And that was the one facing the railway line. There is a TV but poorly tuned in so snowy pictures, and an effective A/C but the controls are in Chinese so all I could work out was how to turn it on and off. I found it with difficulty and it was across the railway line, so it was two flights up and over the overpass and back down again with heavy bags. After that I did what everyone else did and walked over the busy railway line. I was met by a man in a stained T-shirt who checked me in. It was like when the Grizwalds went to London in European Vacation. He took me my room but it wasnt ready so I went down to the advertised bar and there isnt one. There used to be, you can see. I was brought a beer and a few moments later a scruffy lad came down and grabbed my rucksack and beer, despite my protests that I wanted to finish it. He showed me around the room and then just stood there. I realised he wanted a tip but only had large notes. I went for a swim in the sea but the sand is shelly and sharp. Suddenly there was a big ledge which I dropped down and struggled to get back up. I wouldnt then go in again unless there were several witnesses, which never happened. There are no flags. There seemed only the one scruffy staff on the first day apart from some local hangers on, after that a delightful lady took over. The WiFi works in the lobby only, which is small with some torn and broken-sprung sofas but was usually occupied by some Russians and a chain smoking old French lady. If you ask theyll get you a beer which is a good price. Theres a gig and gem shop which is permanently closed. Theres nothing local so best to go into the town north of the Bentota river (Aluthgara)where there are some fantastic finds to eat and drink. I ate at Roys only three times; I asked for a cheese omelet, only cheese and I think they heard, everything but cheese. A cheese sandwich was like cardboard, and some cheese on toast was so awful I chucked the lot. As I was eating it on my balcony the irritating lad from earlier that dragged me there suddenly appeared and wouldnt go away. The bar/lounge/dining area was empty. I got little sleep the last night. The train noise is horrendous. Do not accept room 112! At 7 someone started hammering loudly in my corridor. At 8 the irritant hammered on my door for housekeeping and I had to tell him four times to go away, but he came back 5 minutes later demanding to be let in to give me water. Breakfast finishes at 10 but at 9.30 everything had gone, including the tea and coffee. The receptionist brought me the makings but the urn was cold, it had never been turned on that day. Finally on checking out I was charged 900/= for a full English I never had. (It was deducted) Finally, the Uber couldnt find it and I had to walk half a km to find him. I sadly think this place is doomed.
