  Hardest bed in the world

  This hotel has a very nice staff. They went out of their way to help us in spite of the language barrier. We stayed there because the city center was completely booked during the festival and it worked out well enough. Their location isn't too convenient, it's a very short (around 8 minute) train ride away from downtown Morioka and then a 20 minute walk from there to the hotel. It's all flat land, so it's not too bad, but not something I am eager to repeat. I can't comment on the "radium hot springs" since I didn't try it out, and the bed was the firmest I've slept on, uncomfortably so even by comparison to the other hotels I've been staying in while in Japan. There's a surprisingly good view of the mountains and the room AC was great. It's a classic business hotel and includes a free breakfast in the morning. Again, staff was excellent and very helpful.

  Comfortable, helpful staff, not central

  We stayed here for 10 nights while visiting family in Morioka. We had a comfortable stay. Our non-smoking twin room was spacious with large, comfortable beds. Great views of the surrounding mountains. The staff dont speak English and unfortunately we dont know Japanese, which made communication a little difficult. We got by, though, and I have to say that the lovely staff tried to go out of their way to help us. The location isnt great for the centre of Morioka, and we spent a lot of money on taxis. Its possible to walk to the nearest station in about 20 minutes for a 10-minute train ride into the centre, though. The communal hot bath was lovely a real treat in the evening after a day out and about in the freezing cold. I mostly had the female bath to myself, given that most of the other guests were businessmen. Its very much a business hotel. We didnt love the Japanese breakfast (and were willing to try most things!). Some fruit, maybe cereal would have been welcome. It also ended quite early, meaning we werent always up in time. Overall, Id stay at the chain again, but would prefer to be more central.
