Not for the business travellerThis is basic. Really basic. Not a business hotel. Thin walls, no air conditioning or temperature control in my room, at least, shared balcony - so you can hang out with the drunks next door, just when you need to get some rest. Rarely see anyone at "reception", especially at night. No cooked breakfast. No proper hotel bar, but a nice fellow working as barman/waiter speaks several languages, plus a great outdoor neighbourhood place to sit and drink around the corner at the Bahnhof Restaurant. It's somewhere near (believe me) Grabanackerstrasse (only quite amusing for Brits, that one). Internet can be purchased at 5CHF per day. Train station is 5 minute walk. 5 minutes to Winterthur.

Worth more than 1.5 starsI just stayed in this hotel on a business trip 18, 19 and 20 June 2013. It had been booked because the usual hotel (Wartmann) was full. The staff are very friendly. The room was at the back of the hotel. The room was well presented and the bed reasonably comfortable. The bathroom OK. Breakfast was good. It was the typical fresh fruit, cereals, sliced cold meats and cheese with fresh Broetchen, croissants, local bread with fruit juices and coffee and tea. Not an English breakfast but good non-the-less. The evening meal was excellent. What let it down was the lack of air conditioning. With daytime temperature on 18th hitting 35 deg C the room was stifling. Opening the window made little difference. It did not help that noise from the corridor could be heard in the room and water draining from an upstairs bathroom could be heard in the room. It had a balcony but had bars across the door preventing access. Grass grew on the balcony, too. It does not have a lift. It is 5 mins walk from a railway station. It is 15 mins walk from the Industriepark. In cooler weather it would have been fine for a couple of nights.

Slightly better than averageStayed within a business trip. For me sufficient hotel mainly because of its location. Pros: Good location, shops nearby, friendly staff, good cuisine, visited approx. 6 times, Room quite clean, small fridge, internet signal very good. Cons: No air.conditioning and heating without regulation. Street noise leaks in as well as noise from other rooms. Bed too soft (for me). Some equipment looks a little old. No elevator.
