  Our Appenzell Escape

  The Hotel Santis, the owners and staff were wonderful! We were warmly greeted and no request was too small. Our room at the top was very special, we will always remember how it made us feel at a time when we needed that much needed getaway. We ate in the restaurant downstairs the first night of our stay. The food was lovingly prepared and the waiting staff were helpful and professional. Our meals were delicious, we had the beer cheese soup, one of the veal entrees and the super yummy rossti all so good! We only made it for breakfast one day, but the selection on the buffet was wonderful and so was the hot selections, what a way to start our day and the continuation of our much needed getaway, Our thanks to the Heeb family for making our stay a very memorable experience!

  Comfortable Hotel In an Ideal Location

  We spent 3 nights across 2 different stays in Nov 2019 at this hotel. This was our second trip to Appenzell and we enjoyed it as much as the first. The hotel is ideally located in the center of the old town, close to everything. The rooms are simple, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is included which is a simple affair with bread, meat, cheese, meusli, and eggs made to order. There is an excellent restaurant with a modern take on local cuisine, and a bar (smoking is allowed only in the bar). The staff was friendly and helpful. There is private parking in the back for overnight guests. Parking in the center square is for 1.5 hrs only.

  wonderful family run romantic hotel

  A wonderful hotel in the centre of the old, traditional town of Appenzell. Very quiet and relaxed, parking places available, wonderful smiling service. Rooms very confortable, cozy and spacious, spottlessly clean. The restaurant is top class in qualit with a good offering, specially an extensive wine list! Nice breakfast buffet. A great place to stay when touring the beautiful countryside and mountains!

  For what it is, very nice

  This is a classic SWISS 4 star hotel. The rooms may be a bit dated. But the quality is still very high. Rooms are clean. Staff is nice. WiFi works well. Breakfast is a standard 4 star hotel. For apenzell stay its recommended.

  love dogs

  The hotel is extremely well situated in a charming part of Switzerland. The village, the cows crossing the central square, the choir singing in the streets and pubs make it enchanting. The hotel food is good, the service prompt and the staff friendly. What surprised us? The village and the hotel welcome dogs. Of course this means a well behaved dog. But yes, dogs are welcome at the local restaurants, in the hotel room and on the innumerable walking and hiking paths. Since our little 4kg dog is an integral part of our life, Appenzell will remain memorable. The high point? the public beach at Romanshorn next to Seepark! This is a waterpark on lake Constanz 45min away from Appenzell. Why? Dogs and their owners can swim together (for free) in lake Constanz :) Between the 2-4hour hikes in and around Appenzell you and your dog will be happily exhausted. A nice relaxing pint at one of the many open air village restaurants tops off a perfect day and hotel could not be more accommodating. Have fun and thank you Appenzell and the Romantik Hotel
